Introduction
An element of the mission statement of the Aksum University is the production of leaders in enterprise development. Translated, this means that Aksum University must produce students who are self-reliant and innovative as they face the world of work. However, there is a gap between the school curriculum and the requirements of the world of self-employment as revealed by several researches. Many graduates lack the entrepreneurial mindset and intention which is best instilled via entrepreneurial and soft skills. Ethiopia releases an estimated 2,000,000 youth into the job market every year out of which a staggering 32.2 percent remain unemployed. This compares rather badly with Ethiopia’s neighbours. A United Nations Human Development report reveals that as at the end of last year (2016) youth unemployment in Tanzania stood at 5.2 per cent and 4.0 per cent in Uganda. In Rwanda and Burundi, the unemployment rate was at 3.3 per cent and 3.1 per cent respectively.
Need and Solution
There is need to arrest the runaway youth unemployment in Ethiopia and any effort towards this end should be welcomed and supported. A partial solution can be found in the Hult Prize on Campus program in Aksum University

The Hult Prize on Campus Program
Founded by Ahmad Ashkar in 2009, the Hult Prize is a partnership between the Hult International Business School and the United Nations. The Hult Prize is a start-up accelerator for budding young social entrepreneurs emerging from universities around the world. The annual competition for the Hult Prize aims to build and launch the most compelling social business ideas- start-up enterprises that tackle grave issues faced by billions of people every day. The winning team receives USD1 million in seed capital. The aim of the Hult Prize is to breed the next generation of social entrepreneurs and ultimately launch a start-up social enterprise that can radically change the world.

The Hult Prize on Campus Program brings the Hult Prize directly to universities around the world. Run entirely by volunteer student campus directors, the Hult Prize on Campus Program gives students a vital role to play in changing the trajectory of the world’s toughest challenges, starting in their communities and countries.

The Hult Prize on Campus Program at Aksum University
Aksum University has been selected as one of the universities eligible to host the Hult Prize on Campus Program starting October 2017 with the finals for the event scheduled for December 30, 2017. The local competition will give the university’s winning team the chance to bypass the general application round and fast track into the quarter-finals to be held in March, 2018. The quarter finals next year (2018) with 15 cities being ,Nairobi ,Boston, San Francisco, London, Dubai, Shanghai, Toronto, Mexico City, Quito, Bogota, Melbourne, Lagos, Cairo, Tunis, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore ,we can select the nearest city for us .
50 teams from the quarter-finals will proceed to the semi-finals, an 8 week accelerator at the Ashridge Castle in the United Kingdom starting July, 2018, accommodation catered for. The accelerator transforms student ideas to global businesses through live-work programs that leverage leading business, academic, and legal experts. 6 teams will then advance to pitch for $1 million in seed capital at the United Nations headquarters in New York in September, 2018.

Aksum University was selected to host the Hult Prize on Campus Program after Sisay Abebe applied online at the website www.hultprizeat.com to become a campus director. I applied to become a campus director insert compelling reason, and how you found out about the competition.

The duties of a Campus Director include:
1.Recruiting
a.An organizing committee to support the ex*****on of the program.
b.At least three judges to select the winner.
2.Organizing
a.Setting a date, time and location for the event.
b.Deciding on the event format.
c.Securing a venue for the event.
d.Soliciting any funds required for ex*****on as Hult Prize does not support Hult Prize on Campus Programs.
e.Identifying partners and sponsors.
3.Promoting the event on and off campus.
4.Reporting.
a.Create a report to communicate the success of the event.

In the implementation section, details on how activities 1-4 will be carried out have been provided.

All Hult Prize on Campus Programs globally will be ranked on the basis of four criteria:
Number of teams that participate.
Number of rock star judges recruited.
General buzz the event creates.
X factor: what made the event unique.

Based on the four criteria, a best-in-class event will be chosen and the campus director for the said event will benefit from the following:

The 2018 Hult Prize challenge was announced on 16 September, 2017 by former President of the United States of America, Bill Clinton on the theme: Harnessing the power of energy to transform the lives of 10 million people. The challenge seeks to solve the global issue along six principle dimensions:
Connectivity
Education
Agriculture
Water
Mobility
Health

An accompanying challenge case will be provided to the students to further guide them in coming up with solutions to the challenge. The challenge case can be downloaded from the website Aksum University Hult Prize website

The Hult Prize on Campus Program at Aksum University has set out the following goals and objectives.

Goals:
To educate students on campus the importance of job creation rather than job seeking as a means to address the issue of unemployment.
To educate the youth on business skills and soft skills in an effort to make them well prepared for the corporate world.
To raise awareness of social entrepreneurship on campus and the global impact that can be achieved through social business.

Objectives:
To teach business skills and strategies to a minimum of 40 students through a series of workshops scheduled to be held in the month of October and November 2017.
To select one disruptive start-up that will represent Aksum University at the quarter-finals in March, 2018 in Kenya Nairobi and ultimately go on to radically change the world. All ideas submitted to the competition will be patented for the protection of student ideas through the patents office.

Implementation
Offer details on how you will execute the tasks 1-4 mentioned earlier, including a description of your organizing committee. My university also requested a list of possible judges, not necessary, but my university requested for it so it might help.
