Wings Education and Media is an educational and communication institution which is engaged in children's media, entertainment and education. African Children have no special social spaces where they share their experiences and different artistic & literary talents among themselves. A forum needs to be designed to share their concerns to various stakeholders.

New Strategy Aims to Strengthen Health Campaigns in Ethiopia

Bishoftu - A "Collaborative Action Strategy (CAS) for Health Campaign Effectiveness (HCE)" was launched in Bishoftu from May 2 - 5, 2025 at Pyramid Hotel. The aim of the workshop was to improve public health by creating an integrated framework for designing, implementing, and evaluating health campaigns.

State Minister of Health Dr. Dereje Duguma emphasized the strategy's crucial role in ensuring accessible health services. Senior government officials, WHO representatives, and various organizations pledged their support for the initiative.

Wings Music Band had the honor of performing at a special event celebrating International Women's Day at the Skylight Hotel on 13 March 2025. This event gathered esteemed government officials, the Country Director of Engender Health, and passionate leaders from local civil society organizations and women’s professional associations advocating for women's rights.
With the theme of "Girls Empowerment through Music for Gender Equality," Wings Music Band delivered an inspiring performance that resonated deeply with the audience. Our empowering music played a vital role in amplifying the message of empowerment and support for gender equality, encouraging women and girls to pursue their dreams fearlessly and confidently.
A highlight of the event was a panel discussion titled "Honoring Women of Profession," where accomplished women from various sectors came together to share their experiences and challenges. The conversation fostered a deeper understanding of the hurdles women face in their professional journeys and emphasized the importance of collaboration in breaking the cycle of adversity.
Participants expressed a strong desire to work together to overcome these challenges, highlighting the power of unity in advocating for women's rights and empowerment. The discussions not only recognized the achievements of women but also set the stage for future initiatives aimed at fostering support and collaboration across different fields.
Together, we celebrated empowerment, strength, and the beautiful journey of women during this inspiring event. We are proud to contribute to the ongoing dialogue about gender equality through our music, reinforcing our commitment to creating a more equitable world for all.

TODAY, 6 February, marks International Day of Zero Tolerance for FGM, Ethiopian Ministry of Women and Children’s Affairs, UNICEF and partners are using this date to call for more action to reach the UN’s target of eliminating FGM by 2030.
Over 230 million girls and women worldwide have undergone FGM, mostly due to a belief in some communities that it is a rite of passage into womanhood – often followed by child marriage and dropping out of school. The reality is that FGM is responsible for several health.
This year’s Day was commemorated with a theme “Stepping Up the Pace: Strengthening Alliances and Building Movements to End FGM.” It was held at the Hilton Hotel in the presence of the H.E. Dr. Ergogie Tesfaye, Minister of Women and Children’s Affairs and other high-level officials.

Wings Education and Media was the communication partner of this important event.

About FGM
Female ge***al mutilation (FGM) remains one of the worst forms of human rights violations, affecting over 230 million girls and women worldwide, causing dire consequences in the form of physical and psychological harm. The largest share of the global burden is found amongst countries in Africa with over 144 million cases, followed by Asia with 80 million cases, and the Middle East with 6 million cases. With an estimated 4 million girls being subjected to FGM every year, we need to accelerate our efforts and stand united in ending this harmful practice.

“A better world for all children is possible.”

The Universal Children’s Day was commemorated at the National level with a theme “Listen to the Future” on 20 November 2024. The event was attended by thousands of children from all regions at the Skylight Hotel, Addis Ababa.

In her opening remarks, H.E. Dr Ergogie Tesfaye, Minister of Women and Children’s Affairs said, “by listening to children we can understand their vision of the future and their challenges.”
Our Girls Music Band performed its new brand songs during the event. The songs reflected concepts like children are like a “mine rich in gems of inestimable value” and the need for moral education.

Wings Education and Media was one of the major supporters and organizers of this event. It was also recognized by Ministry of Women and Children Affairs for its contribution to this particular event and other similar initiatives.

We believe that children are powerful agents of change, and they can contribute constructive ideas and fresh perspectives that can help shape a better future for all of us.
