ERCS MHPSS Framework (2023-2025) Lessons Learned Workshop Conducted
The Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) has successfully implemented its Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) Framework, a strategic roadmap endorsed by the Senior Management Team in October 2023. With approximately 90% of the planned activities completed, there is a critical need to reflect on the process and outcomes to inform future programming. This workshop is designed to facilitate a comprehensive review of the framework's development and implementation, ensuring that key lessons learned are captured and utilized for the next iteration of the MHPSS strategy using the four priority actions
Priority Action 1: Improveand provide community based MHPSS
Priority Action 2: Integrating MHPSS in other sectors in ERCS:
Priority Action 3: Caringfor Staff and Volunteers
Priority Action 4: Improvehumanitarian diplomacy, advocacy,and communication on MHPSs
Priority Action 5: Strengthen coordination, collaboration, and referral mechanisms for MHPSS
Workshop Objectives
The primary objectives of this workshop are to:
Review and Assess: Systematically review the implementation of the MHPSS Framework (2023-2025) and assess its achievements against the five priority actions.
Identify Lessons Learned: Identify and document key successes, challenges, and lessons learned from the framework's operationalization.
Develop Recommendations: Gather inspiration and concrete recommendations from diverse perspectives for the development of a new, post-2025 MHPSS framework.
Foster Shared Understanding: Build a shared understanding among ERCS teams about the future direction of MHPSS programming and the path forward.
The workshop will be highly participatory and interactive, employing a mix of methodologies to facilitate open discussion and knowledge sharing. This will include:

This theme highlights a harsh reality: when crisis, conflict, or disaster strikes, the mental wounds are often overlooked. We know that in emergencies, one in three people will experience a mental health condition, and one in twenty face severe conditions. Displacement, war, and disrupted health systems make it incredibly difficult for people, especially migrants and those in temporary shelters, to find help.
This is why Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) is not a choice; it is a lifesaving intervention. It prevents long-term harm, reduces the risk of su***de, and enables people to cope, build resilience, and ultimately rebuild their communities under extreme stress.
Here at the Ethiopian Red Cross, we are committed to making MHPSS a core part of everything we do.
Our focus is on delivering community-based MHPSS, ensuring this crucial support reaches people in their villages and neighborhoods. This work—training volunteers, providing psychological first aid, and establishing local support—is only possible because of the strong collaboration and solidarity of our Partner National Societies.

ሁላችሁም ለዚህ የአለም የአእምሮ ጤና ቀን በዓል እዚህ መገኘታችሁ በእውነት የሚያበረታታ ነው።

ይፋዊው ቀን ፣ ጥቅምት 10 ነው የሚከበረው፣ የዘንድሮው መልዕክታችን ከመቼውም ጊዜ በላይ ወሳኝ ነው። የመሪ ቃላችን፡ “አገልግሎቶችን ማግኘት፡ በአደጋዎች እና በአስቸኳይ ጊዜ የአእምሮ ጤና” የሚል ነው።
ይህ ጭብጥ አንድን አሳዛኝ እውነት ያጎላል፡- ቀውስ፣ ግጭት ወይም አደጋ ሲከሰት፣ በአእምሮ ላይ የሚደርሰው ጉዳት ብዙውን ጊዜ ችላ ይባላል። በአስቸኳይ ቀዉስ ጊዜ ውስጥ፤ማለትም የምርት መንቀጥቀጥ፤ ከሦስት ሰዎች አንዱ በአእምሮ ጤና ችግር እንደሚጠቃ፣ እና ከሃያ ሰዎች አንዱ ደግሞ ከባድ ችግሮች እንደሚገጥመው ይታዎቃል። መፈናቀል፣ ጦርነት እና የተበላሹ የጤና ስርዓቶች፤ ሰዎች፣ በተለይም ስደተኞች እና በጊዜያዊ መጠለያዎች ውስጥ ያሉ፣ እርዳታ ማግኘት እጅግ ከባድ ያደርጉባቸዋል።
ለዚህም ነው የአእምሮ ጤና እና ሳይኮሶሻል ድጋፍ (MHPSS) ምርጫ ሳይሆን ህይወት አድን ስራ የሆነው። የረጅም ጊዜ ጉዳትን ይከላከላል፣ ራስን የማጥፋት አደጋን ይቀንሳል፣ እና ሰዎች እጅግ ከባድ በሆነ ጭንቀት ውስጥ ሆነው ለመቋቋም፣ የመከላከል አቅም ለመገንባት እና በመጨረሻም ማኅበረሰባቸውን እንደገና ለመገንባት ያስችላቸዋል።

ትኩረታችን በማኅበረሰብ ደረጃ ላይ የተመሠረተ የአእምሮ ጤና እና ሳይኮሶሻል ድጋፍ (MHPSS) መስጠት ላይ ሲሆን፣ ይህ ወሳኝ ድጋፍ ሁሉንም ተደራሽ ለማድረግ፤ ማረጋገጥ ነው። ይህ ሥራ—በጎ ፈቃደኞችን ማሰልጠን፣ ሥነ ልቦናዊ የመጀመሪያ እርዳታ መስጠት እና የአካባቢ ድጋፍ ማዕከላትን መዘርጋት—የሚቻለው በአጋር ብሔራዊ ማኅበራቶቻችን ባለው ጠንካራ ትብብር እና መተጋገዝ ብቻ ነው።
የ ዴንማርክ ቀይ መስቀል፣ የኔዘርላንድ ቀይ መስቀል፣ የፊንላንድ ቀይ መስቀል፣ የስዊስ ቀይ መስቀል፣ የኦስትሪያ ቀይ መስቀል፣ አይኤፍአርሲ፣ አይሲአርሲ፣ እና ሌሎች አጋሮቻችንን በሙሉ ከልብ አመሰግናለሁ። የእናንተ ድጋፍ እና ልምድ ወሳኝ ነው።
ምንም እንኳን አስፈላጊነቱ ቢኖርም፣ የአእምሮ ጤና ድጋፍ በዓለም አቀፍ ደረጃ የገንዘብ ድጋፍ እጥረት ቀውስ ገጥሞታል። በዓለም ዙሪያ ካለው አገራዊ የጤና በጀት 2 በመቶ ብቻ ለአእምሮ ጤና ይመደባል። ይህ ትልቅ ክፍተት በዚህ ዓመት ብቻ ከ500,000 ለሚበልጡ ሰዎች የሚሰጠውን አገልግሎት አደጋ ላይ ጥሎታል፤ እንዲሁም የአስርት ዓመታት ዕድገትን ወደኋላ ሊመልስ ይችላል።
በዚህ ዓለም የአእምሮ ጤና ቀን፣ ኢ.ቀ.መ.ማ ዘላቂ ኢንቨስትመንት፣ ጠንካራ ትብብር እና የማይናወጥ መተጋገዝ ይጠይቃል። MHPSS በአደጋ ምላሽ ዕቅድ ውስጥ መጀመሪያ የሚቀነስ ሳይሆን መጀመሪያ የገንዘብ ድጋፍ የሚደረግለት መሆኑን ማረጋገጥ አለብን።

ይህንን የግማሽ ቀን ወርክሾፕ ለመማር፣ ለመመራመር እና ቁርጠኝነታችንን ለማጠናከር እንጠቀምበት። በጋራ፣ በችግር የተጎዱ ሰዎች ሁሉ በክብር እና በተስፋ ለመኖር የሚያስፈልጋቸውን እንክብካቤ ማግኘት እንዲችሉ እናረጋግጣለን።
