The Ethiopian Cancer Association (ECA) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization committed to averting cancer and cancer related problems in Ethiopia.
It was established in December 2002 by highly committed health professionals who clearly understood the problem and had been working with cancer patients in the country and abroad, and by cancer patients in Ethiopia whose lives were forever changed by the disease. While there is only one center for providing cancer treatment in Ethiopia, the number of cases is increasing. According to clinical records from the Tikur Anbessa Specialized Hospital's Radiotherapy Center, 120,500 cases of cancer occur per year.
