Framing is far more important than the picture.
I thought about this a lot when I first heard it on a podcast with Steven Barlett and Chris Williamson.
Steven, the host of the Diary of a CEO podcast, told Chris, the host of the Modern Wisdom podcast, why certain products like Apple are displayed uniquely.
He broke down why the iPhone was displayed like a piece of art rather than technology; placing in on a large table by itself.
This was no accident.
The way Steve Jobs saw the phone was art more than just tech. Everything was designed from the screen to the parts most people didn't see behind the back plate.
People then started to value this object more than just a phone with a screen.
This is framing.
Take your situation. Do some inventory of your life.
We are used to our surroundings and often neglect the beauty that we possess.
Did you wake up in a nice warm bed, inside your apartment?
Man, you are blessed.
Next time you are having a horrible day, you're kids are misbehaving, your boss is making your life hell by making your job impossible, and your partner is giving you hell just because...
You've got two options as I see it:
Blame the universe for all the horrible stuff happening to you all at once.
OR
Have gratitude that your kids are healthy and they will eventually change their behavior and you love them.
You are lucky to have a job and that it provides you support to allow your family a decent existence.
Your partner is someone who really does love you and that this misunderstanding will pass and this was just their inability to communicate that properly.
Man, when you frame it that way.
It doesn't sound so bad.
See you at the top
