During our project, students schools and experts have been researching information about the predominant fauna and flora of four different parks that will be featured in the game: Sierra de Espadán (Spain), Cento Laghi (Italy), Snaefellsjökull (Iceland) and Malé Karpaty (Skovakia).

The flora of the parks is a characteristic of those areas and it is influenced by many factors such as temperature, humidity, fires, human practices, etc.

Did you know that Flora comes from the Latin and it meant flower? Also Flora was a Roman goddess of spring and flowering plants.

Now flora has a related meaning in English refering to the plants of a particular region, habitat, or geological period.

𝙎𝘼𝙑𝙀 𝙏𝙃𝙀 𝘿𝘼𝙏𝙀 📅

On Thursday 𝟯𝟬 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 will be held at Europe Direct Modena, from 2.30 to 5.00pm, GET UP! 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘀 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁❕

The first part of the event will be dedicated to the presentation of the GET UP! project and its results, available and usable by schools.
The second part will include the 𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗲𝘀 of the of class 2I of Wiligelmo High School (Modena), who participated in the testing event of the game at an international level. Afterwards, the Wiligelmo students will show the game's functionalities to the participants 💚

The 𝗔𝗿𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗙𝗼𝘅 is the only native land mammal in , but the oldest remains are dated 3.500 years back 🐾

It has ever since been isolated from other breeds and are therefore seen as different from other foxes living in the arctic.
The Icelandic fox, that normally appears as white or “peat red”, has thick fur that makes it possible to survive in the arctic but cold doesn’t affect the animal until it´s -35°c, according to the Icelandic Institute of Natural History, and it starts shaking around -70°c ❕

Within 𝙎𝙣æ𝙛𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙨𝙟𝙤̈𝙠𝙪𝙡𝙡 𝙉𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙋𝙖𝙧𝙠 the Arctic Fox is strictly which makes it less stressed among the human. This one is a frequent guest by the National Park visitor centre in Malarrif.

Farewell to all the students and teachers that have participated in the third, and last learning, training and teaching activity of the project 🫶

Has been was three intense days of 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀-𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗲𝘅𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲.... and 𝗳𝘂𝗻 🌱

It was great to learn so much about protected areas and 𝗯𝗶𝗼𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, to see students from different countries socializing...and most of all to see them appreciate the 𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗴𝗮𝗺𝗲 of the project🤩

It is always nice and stimulating to engage with students 🧑‍🏫👏

Yesterday the italian partner of the project went to Willigelmo High School in Modena to talk about the project, 𝗻𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 and 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀.

In deed, the goal of the project is to increases expertise and awareness on in 𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀.

However, the discussion was also useful and educational for the partnership: the students provided us with excellent feedback and reflection points to go on with the development of the 𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗴𝗮𝗺𝗲❕

Yesterday the Italian partner of the project met online to organize the participation of Italian 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 to the transnational testing of 𝗚𝗘𝗧 𝗨𝗣! 𝗴𝗮𝗺𝗲❕🎮

The transnational testing will take place in the 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗟𝗮𝗴𝗵𝗶 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗸 ⛰
For the students it will be a great opportunity to acquire and develop basic skills and key competences related to !

The day is being marked as an important step towards conserving and protecting the decreasing numbers of wildlife species across the globe. Wildlife plays an important role in balancing the environment.

How we can 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗯𝘂𝘁𝗲? 🤝
- by raising awareness about the species and its impact on our environment;
- by promoting the and of endangered species across the globe;
- stopping and checking on
- ensuring successful implementation of developed for protection and conservation of wildlife species; etc.

Preservation of 𝗯𝗶𝗼𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 is at the heart of project! Indeed, one of the objective of our project is to increase the competence and awareness on environmental issues in upper secondary school 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 🧑‍🏫

𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘁 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲 𝗯𝗶𝗼𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆? 🦅🌱

1) Has an value, as it provides goods and services that are essential for the survival and well-being of the human species. Biodiversity provides food and nutrition (both plant and animal), fibers for textiles, and raw materials for energy production. Biodiversity also provides us with services, also called ecosystem services (benefits that ecosystems provide to human communities).

2) Has an value. Indeed, as human beings we have the opportunity to visit and admire ecosystems and the animal and plant species that inhabit them. This important natural heritage has significant economic and social benefits for the communities living within or around natural areas.

3) Has an important value. By studying the incredible variety of plants, animals species and habitats on our planet, we have the opportunity to greatly expand our knowledge of how life functions and has evolved on Earth, and how we can better safeguard it.

4) Has an value. Indeed, beyond all the benefits that biodiversity provides to our societies and the planet, it is important to respect all living beings as such and their right to exist as much as human beings.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀? 𝗔𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗽𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲?

Protected areas are natural areas, designated by public authorities (States, regions, local administrations), where human activities are strictly regulated. They have two main purposes: the first goal is to preserve or re-establish the environmental balance of one or more ecosystems; on the other, to preserve or increase the level of animal, plant, and habitat biodiversity.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 𝗼𝗳 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀? 🇮🇹

The Italian System of Protected Areas is regulated at the national level by Law 394/1991, which establishes the three main objectives that the System of Protected Areas must pursue:
1) Environmental conservation;
2) Integration between man and the environment;
3) Educational-recreational activity;
In Italy there are different types of Protected Areas (National Parks, Regional Parks, Nature Reserves, etc.) and all together they cover more than 10% of Italy's land surface!
