U.S. Court Rules Against AI Company in Copyright Case – A Win for Rights Holders

A major precedent in AI and copyright law: A U.S. court has ruled against Ross Intelligence, stating that using copyrighted legal materials from Thomson Reuters to train AI does not qualify as fair use.

Although the case didn’t involve generative AI directly, this decision could have far-reaching implications for lawsuits against AI companies using copyrighted content for training. It strengthens the position of creators and confirms that AI-generated content derived from protected works can be considered copyright infringement.
