Another glorious day for Nordic Walking! This time three of the group were completing their second session of the Learn to course, and for three it was their first time with poles, and Grace joined us too showing everyone that it’s good to join for a refresher now and again!! At all levels everyone did super well 👏👏❤️

Another interesting article highlighting the reasons NW is such a great form of exercise! And it’s really encouraging to see that so much research is going into this technique❤️

Using poles while you walk can be a great, low-impact way to exercise.

One of my NW clients shared this great diagram! Nordic Walking isn’t just walking with poles. It’s a specific technique that uses the poles to propel you along so you walk faster but with less effort. As a result your cardiovascular output is increased but because you are effectively now a quadruped there is less strain on your hips/knees/feet. On the other hand as you are using your arms and upper back to connect the poles into the ground they get a good workout too!!

I’m going to be doing Learn to Nordic walk sessions on Saturday 7th, 9.30am start and Sunday 15th May 10.30am start. The course is four hours divided into two, two hour sessions. The cost is €40 and I have poles you can use. Please message for more information Doina Taylor

Today we walked from StQgat to Barcelona!! Amazingly beautiful walk, past St Medir, up to the Arrabassada, under Tibidabo and down to Pl Kennedy. 3h 40 mins and about 12km. I’m planning to go again soon, it was so nice, can’t wait to repeat!!

This Sunday we did a great walk from St Quirze to Sant Cugat!! With Sue Harrand and Angels Sastre ❤️and Bru of course!!

Bru and I did the regular circular walk on our own today because I’ve decided I need to get out more frequently with my poles 😜it took 1 hour, 55 mins from my home and back. I’m going to see if I can improve on that time (although I did get slowed down by waiting for Bru to go investigating in the woods!) I’m planning to walk several times a week at midday so if you’re free let me know 🤗

Gorgeous walk today in the mountains around Sant Marti de Centelles. Only 30 mins from StQgat by car but a world away in every other respect!! So peaceful and beautiful
