We want to give a shoutout to the countries that have the top viewers for the blog, in order they are:

1) United States
2) Germany
3) United Kingdom
4) Spain

SiempreLeer was started in the United States and many students in the US take Spanish beginning in elementary school. Spanish is the second most spoken language in the United States and is predicted to surpass English within the century. It's great to read Spanish both in a practical and academic way.
It would be great to hear why you are studying famous Spanish literature. Take the poll on the home page and then we will post the results!

Cheers!

Hola estudiantes!

We have just entered October and therefore already have two months of Spanish literature in our repertoire. If you are behind in reading, now is the time to catch up! All the stories are provided in English on here including the poems and longer versions of Lazarillo de Tormes and Don Quijote to name a few.

Stay interested in the stories as well. You might be surprised at how enduring and popular some of the stories still are in our culture today. Look at how The Lyric Opera of Chicago is performing Mozart's Don Giovanni. Sound familiar? That's because Mozart used the novel by Tirso de Molina entitled El burlador de Sevilla y convidado de piedra (The Trickster of Seville and the Stone Guest). You will read this story among many others that still are represented in our culture today.
