This is the easiest way to switch to Spanish, profe. Give it a try and let me know how it goes in your classroom.

I recorded this back in the fall, but it’s relevant this week!

Do you take a break or do a reflection week in your class? Let me know in the comments.

I get a lot of DMs and offline questions about how I teach online, how I find students, and how I make a living without working for a school.

The biggest thing you need to know about Teaching for yourself is that you are no longer just a teacher, you are now a business. That being said, I have to recommend my friend Tara for her course, coaching, and data spreadsheets.

If you’re even thinking about teaching online, or working for yourself, Tara‘s resources are a fantastic place to start. You can go follow her, or send me a DM and I will send you the link to get started.

¡Hola profe! As you might remember, my school closed last year and I struck out on my own, teaching all my own students and classes, fully online.

It's been a hit, and I want to offer more online class hours for the students and families that have come my way.

If you're interested in summer classes and/or after-school hours for next year, I'd love for you to apply!

Truth time: I’m not a native speaker. I make mistakes. Someone corrected me once during a presentation. I get nervous emailing my native colleagues. 😅

BUT telling someone that they’ll never have the skills means giving up on our whole profession.

If another Spanish teacher tells me my the Spanish skills will never be good enough to teach the language, then how can they believe in their students?

Let’s talk about it. Drop your thoughts in the comments.

I love setting goals, and usually my goals sit in my planner. This month I felt motivated by to throw my February goals into a little bingo board.

I know we often set goals for the new year, and they fall far to the side by mid-February. I've stuck with my goals of swimming (3 days a week!) and reading instead of scrolling.

What are your February goals, profe? How are they going so far? I'll be sharing this to my stories with updates on my progress.

I don't know about you, but things are feeling pretty rough these days.

As teachers, we stand tall for what's right for kids, their families, and our communities. As language teachers, we sometimes get squashed or left out.

I don't need any "be mine" hearts this year. I need recognition, support from leadership (in school, locally, and nationally), and more love for Spanish class and use of Spanish.

Sending you love this week, profe.

I love my high schoolers, but I really think my middle schoolers love me more.

Luckily this year I get to teach both middle and high school Spanish.

Do you teach both? Just one? Which do you prefer?

This is one of my FAVORITE lessons to teach.
