Climate Impact Lab in University of Chicago’s projections indicate that 95 cities across Asia would experience an increase in temperature-related mortality of at least 10 deaths per 100,000 with 56 of them residing in China. Other countries with multiple cities that exceed the 10 deaths per 100,000 threshold include Pakistan (nine), Japan (four), Iran (four), Bangladesh (three), and Saudi Arabia (three).

We need new solutions that help cities, communities and individuals identify and apply measures that prevent or reduce extreme heat. From construction materials design to wearable devices that detect early signs of heat stress, to satellite-driven heat-risk maps, technology is transforming how we forecast, respond and adapt to, and survive extreme heatwaves.
