🤯 An 88% improvement in urinary flow without losing ej*******on.
That’s what the new meta-analysis published in *European Urology* (Sept 2025) shows about minimally invasive surgical treatments (MIST) for benign prostatic obstruction.
24 studies. 1,831 patients. 5 techniques analyzed.
Key 12-month findings:
→ Optilume: -59% IPSS, +88% Qmax
→ TPLA: -57% IPSS, +68% Qmax
→ iTind: -51% IPSS, +68% Qmax
→ Rezüm: -51% IPSS, +77% Qmax
→ UroLift: -46% IPSS, +38% Qmax
What almost no one is discussing: anej*******on rates.
UroLift and Optilume → 0%.
iTind → 1%.
Rezüm → 3%.
TPLA → 5%.
Compared to classic TURP (60-90% anej*******on), the shift is massive.
👉 The honest caveat: GRADE certainty remains moderate to very low. We still need head-to-head trials and >5-year follow-up.
But the message for the patient who values his sexual function is no longer “endure it or take the risk.” It’s “choose the right technique.”
Are you offering MIST in your practice? How do you decide which one to propose?
