The beautiful art of Wing Chun 🌺 👊🏼

Anyone else find practicing the Muk Yan Jong /wooden dummy form therapeutic? There’s so much to benefit from this training tool. It’s not about speed, it’s about technique, positioning, structure, timing, precision, focus. I have to say, the Jong is my favourite form of all. What’s your favourite form?

Practicing my Shotokan Karate kicks👊🏼🥋

Some of you may not realise that although I primarily practice Wing Chun, I have a very extensive background in Shotokan Karate. Karate and Wing Chun are two very different martial arts, so as Bruce Lee once said ‘absorb what is useful, discard what is not’. I agree that high kicks are not always safe and efficient, but this is something I used to enjoy most about Karate.

Have a blessed weekend all!🥹

Precision over power when practicing. 🗡️

Working the Bob dummy with the Baat Jaam Do is an excellent way to develop wrist strength, accuracy, and control. Every strike reinforces correct edge alignment, while the real power comes from driving through your stance, hips, and body structure - not relying on your arms alone. Train with purpose, move with precision, and let your technique do the work. Have a great week all! 👊🏼

Today I celebrate another trip around the sun, and my heart is so full. 💚🍀

I’m beyond grateful to be blessed with another year of life. Every year that passes is a reminder that growing older is a privilege, and I’m thankful for every lesson, every memory, and every moment that has shaped me into the person I am today.

I’m incredibly grateful for my health, my life, my amazing family, and the friends who have stood by me through every chapter. Your love, encouragement, and support mean more than words can ever express.

A huge thank you to everyone who has supported me on my social media journey over the years. Whether you’ve been here since the beginning or have only recently joined, every like, comment, message, share, and word of encouragement has meant the world to me. I’m so thankful for the continued love and support, and I truly never take it for granted.

I truly feel blessed beyond measure, and I’m excited to see what this next chapter has in store. Here’s to another year of growth, happiness, opportunities, unforgettable memories, and making every day count.

Thank you all for being part of my journey.🥹🙏🏻

HAPPY FRIDAY!

Wing Chun bracing footwork with the butterfly knives. 🦋⚔️

Bracing footwork is one of the strongest structures in Wing Chun. Training with the butterfly knives builds strength, improves body unity, and teaches you to sink your stance while connecting the knives to your entire body.

The butterfly knives are simply an extension of the arms.

In this drill, I’m practicing double Gan Sau, making sure I never leave an opening during the transition. I switch hands first, then sweep across, keeping both my upper and lower gates fully protected.

Strong footwork is the foundation of effective Wing Chun. Without it, everything else becomes weaker.

3 Simple Walking Safety Tips‼️

1️⃣ Stay off your phone
• Don’t walk with your head down glued to your screen.
• Stay aware of your surroundings and the people around you.
• Being distracted makes you an easier target and means you could miss potential dangers.

2️⃣ Don’t wear both headphones
• Keep at least one ear free.
• Being able to hear what’s happening around you is essential.
• It helps you notice approaching people, traffic, bikes, or anything unusual.

3️⃣ Walk with confidence
• Shoulders back.
• Chin up.
• Make eye contact when appropriate.
• Keep your hands out of your pockets.
• Confident body language can deter unwanted attention, and having your hands free means you’re ready to react if needed.

I hope these help you! Stay safe people 👊🏼 Have a blessed weekend 💚❇️
