Most people know plastic pollution is a problem.
Far fewer realise that sunscreen can also end up in the ocean.
Scientists estimate that around 5,000 tonnes of sunscreen enter coral reef areas every year, and some commonly used ingredients have been linked to coral damage and bleaching.
While sunscreen is important for protecting our skin, the type we choose matters.
If you're heading to the beach or going diving this summer, consider:
☀️ Wearing UV-protective clothing
🧴 Choosing non-nano mineral sunscreens
⏱️ Applying sunscreen before entering the water
🚫 Avoiding aerosol sprays
As divers, we spend more time in the ocean than most. Small choices like these can help reduce our impact on the marine environment.

It's World Sea Turtle Day 🐢🌊
Celebrated on June 16th in honour of Dr. Archie Carr, whose pioneering research helped shine a spotlight on sea turtles and inspired generations of conservationists to protect them.
Sea turtles have survived for more than 100 million years, but today they face threats from plastic pollution, habitat loss, and climate change.
The good news? Small actions can make a big difference.
♻️ Reduce single-use plastics
🚮 Dispose of litter responsibly
🐢 Respect marine life and their habitats
Happy World Sea Turtle Day 💙
