Today is my baby boy’s 21st Birthday! .murphy has always been the fire, always been a light that burns brightly.

An energy so intense that it is impossible not to miss! I remember my father telling me to be careful that we don’t dampen his spirit. This I hear in my head often and we have worked hard to allow him the space he needs to thrive.

I can’t believe he is 21 and I can’t wait to see what magic he shares in this world. Because he is magical!

And this is our wish for him!

Happy 21st Birthday my son! 💜❤️

As a family, we always had mooncakes during the Mid-Autumn Festival, one of those quiet traditions that showed up every year, tucked neatly inside a shiny tin box.

My children are now four generations removed from our Chinese-born ancestors, so this tradition feels even more significant, a reminder of who we are and why these rituals still matter.

As each generation drifts further from our roots, it becomes even more meaningful to honor the traditions that keep us connected. 💛

And honestly… this is the first time I’m intentionally sharing this part of my family.

🌕 The Mid-Autumn Festival is celebrated on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month , a time for family, gratitude, and reflection.

It’s rooted in 3,000 years of moon worship and harvest celebrations, honoring harmony, unity, and good fortune.

The legend of Chang’e, the Moon Goddess, symbolizes eternal love and reunion.

🥮 Mooncakes represent wholeness and togetherness.

🏮 Lanterns symbolize light and hope.

🌕 And the full moon reminds us that even when we’re apart, we’re still connected under the same sky.

And maybe, if we shared more and listened with more understanding our world would feel a little closer, too.

And yes… I’ll always take the one with the salted egg inside. 🥮💛

But let’s be real: sometimes it’s honestly hard to know what makes you happy. We get caught up in responsibilities, routines, and other people’s opinions.

Yet often, happiness hides in the simplest of things -and you just know it..
the moment that fills your heart,
the laugh that makes you smile so hard you look silly, the small joy that feels bigger than anything else.

And if you don’t know what that is yet, start here:
💜What makes me lose track of time?
💜What feels light, joyful, or energizing when I do it?
💜What small things make me smile, even on hard days?

Your happiness doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s. The more you know what lights you up, the more aligned your life becomes and the happier you will be!🥰

✨ Twenty-five years ago, I became a mother to the cutest baby boy. Max stole my heart in a way I never thought possible and taught me that love could be infinite, unburdened, awe-inspiring, and expansive.

I once resisted the idea that life changes when you become a parent. But the truth no one tells you is that if you allow them, your children will open your world and your heart wider than you ever imagined. Their very being calls you to grow…into a leader, a mentor, a coach, and a protector you didn’t even know lived inside you.

Along the way, I also learned this: what we say to our children becomes their inner voice. What we believe about them shapes what they believe about themselves.

And so, as parents, our responsibility is to fix ourselves, to know ourselves, to regulate ourselves, so we can show up as our best for them.

If you follow my page ’s you know we share birthday wishes for the people in our lives because we believe in speaking magic into people.

✨ Words matter. They shape how we see ourselves and how we move through the world.

It’s become our little ritual: in the mornings, we talk about what lights people up, what they love, and how we can make them feel extraordinary. On birthdays especially, our words become reminders of love, possibility, and the power we each carry within us.

❤️ 💜Happy birthday,

Thank you for being one of 2, of my greatest teachers.

Connection.
The one that brings it all together.

Clarity helps you see the path.
Confidence gives you the courage to walk it.
But connection?
That’s what makes it meaningful.

These past few weeks reminded me of that in the most beautiful ways:

✨ Med School Reunion:
Decades faded in seconds.
Old jokes, deep knowing, big belly laughs.
We grew up together—and those early bonds still hold.

✨ Caelan’s Vancouver House crew in Jamaica:
Young adults reuniting across time zones and borders.
Sharing stories, beach hangs, and a whole lot of laughter.
Watching them reminded me:
The people around you shape your story.

Here’s what I know for sure:
Life unfolds most intentionally when you’re connected—
to yourself, your vision, and the people who light you up.

These moments?
They’re not just social.
They’re alignment in action.

So here’s your reminder:
Tag the people who bring you home to yourself.
Tell them. Thank them. Keep them close.

Because this life?
It was never meant to be built alone.

The first time I heard my husband say he was nervous—it stopped me.

? Nervous?
The man is solid as a rock:
✔️ Grounded in his values
✔️ Clear in his decisions
✔️ Calm in actual life-or-death situations

But that day, he was heading out to play pickleball (lol) with a new group.
And just before walking out the door, he said:

“I’m kind of nervous.”

Whaaat?

Trevor Murphy. Nervous?
To play a sport. Not a life and death situation, but to play Pickleball?

But that moment stuck with me.

Because it reminded me:

👉🏽 Confidence isn’t the absence of nerves.
It’s the presence of self-trust.

And when that trust is missing?
You can feel it everywhere:
📍 In boardrooms
📍 On the court
📍 At home

It looks like people trying to prove themselves instead of being themselves.
Performing instead of leading.

You know the type:
– Talk more than they listen
– Speak 3 decibels louder than needed
– Always blaming someone else
– Need you to know how many people “want them”
– Constantly reminding you how amazing they (or their kids or cousin or dog) are
(just in case you forgot… again)

But real confidence?

It’s not loud.
It’s not draining.
It doesn’t name-drop—or DUPR drop 😉
It doesn’t chase applause.

Confidence is calm.
Rooted.
Unbothered.
And deeply in tune with who you are, even when you’re the new one on the court.

Because confidence isn’t about being perfect.
It’s about trusting yourself enough to show up as you.

First I get overwhelmed… then I get clear.

That’s my rhythm.
Not always graceful, but always honest.

Overwhelm usually knocks first:
To-do lists, emotions, expectations, what-ifs.
Sleepless nights. Heavy mind.
A moment of “too much.”

Then comes the pause.
A breath.
A reset.
A conversation.
And slowly, clarity arrives:

✨ What actually matters right now?
✨ What’s mine to carry—and what’s not?
✨ What’s the next true step?

This isn’t a flaw in my process.
It is the process.

Sometimes, overwhelm is the doorway.
Not to chaos, but to clarity.

So if you’ve ever judged yourself for the overwhelm… don’t.
It might just be your starting point. ✨

He stepped off the plane… and I knew.
He wasn’t the same.

Not in a bad way.
Just… different.
Wiser.
Edgier.
Deeper.
murphy is home.
And while we’re so proud, there’s a quiet ache—
We’re meeting a version of him we don’t fully know.

That’s the tension of parenting young adults.
Pride and letting go.
Joy and reintroduction.

Growth isn’t always about moving forward.
Sometimes, it’s about coming home to yourself

Our boys are growing.
Not because we told them who to be
but because we gave them space to become.

Whether I’m coaching a client
or sitting at the dinner table,
the principle is the same:

True growth is grounded.
In values.
In vision.
In self-trust.

recently shared on LinkedIn how he feels behind at 24.
But he’s growing and grateful for our support.
And that tells me, we’re doing something right and we have done something good.

And our boys know,
We’ll always keep the lights on.
And make sure they know the alarm code. 😉

Because this is what we offer:
Not just support,
but a place to return to,
reset, and rise again.

We are home!

✨May you always lead with clarity as your compass, confidence as your fuel, and connection as your home. I’m Nicola Chang Murphy - coaching you to speak up, show up, and take actions that feel true to you.

I’ve had this cute pickleball skirt hanging in my closet for months.

It reminded me of 7th grade, showing up for a ski trip in the best gear but unable to ski, feeling like a fraud. “Who do you think you are?” That whisper stuck.

Decades later, that whisper returned as I stood in front of my closet, wondering if I’d earned the right to wear the skirt, to take up space on the court.

But here’s what I teach my clients (and remind myself):
✨ Growth starts with the decision to step into who you’re becoming.
✨ You don’t need to “earn” your way in before you start.
✨ You can show up before you feel fully ready.

So I got a coach. I showed up. I let Trevor (my lifetime coach and patient husband) guide me. I moved from watching to playing.

And finally, I wore the skirt.

If you’re staring at your own version of the skirt in the closet, wondering if you’re ready—
Maybe it’s time to get support.
Maybe it’s time to take up your space.
Maybe it’s time to show up.

Because dressing the part isn’t about faking it. It’s about becoming it.

See you on the court. 💜🏓

The world feels loud lately.
So many conversations. So much noise.
The anxiety? Palpable.

So how do we stay afloat—head and heart? ❤️‍🩹💜

Here’s where it gets a little woo…

We raise our vibration.
Not by ignoring reality,
but by choosing thoughts, words, and actions that lift rather than drain.

It starts with how we communicate.

Choose your words with care.
They carry energy—use them to build, to ground, to uplift.

Some of my favorite high-vibe words:
Power. Magic. Energy.
Here’s how I use them (and a few others) to shift the collective:

💫 Gratitude: “I appreciate every lesson we learn together.”
💪🏽 Resilience: “We rise stronger after every test.”
💗 Compassion: “Empathy is our superpower.”
🌾 Abundance: “There’s more than enough for all of us.”
🧭 Choice: “Each step forward is yours to define.”
✨ Magic: “Stay open to sparks that make life extraordinary.”

Figure out your high-vibe words.
The ones that soothe, not spike. That connect, not constrict.

And sprinkle them everywhere.
In meetings, in texts, in how you speak to yourself.

Because even when the world feels heavy,
we still get to choose our energy.

Let’s keep the vibrations high
one word, one conversation, one moment at a time. ⚡💫

Sending you some of mine from Treasure Beach, Jamaica. 🏝️🌺

Stop overlooking the 🚩 —all for the sake of a perceived gain.

If a leader (or mentor, partner, co-founder—anyone you choose to follow) consistently:
•makes you feel uncomfortable
• puts you on the defensive
• contradicts your core values

…it’s costing you-
your confidence,
your growth,
and a supportive environment.

What to do instead:

1. Ask how they make you feel. Do you feel valued or constantly on edge?
2. Listen to your intuition.
3. Consider if they’re someone you admire in all areas, someone you’d want your child to emulate.
4. Check if your core values align.

You already know the red flags; just pay attention to them:
• Look at their patterns.
• Observe who they surround themselves with.
• Notice their brand and values.

The best leaders show up with integrity, consistency, and accountability.
If you see the warning signs, trust yourself.
That’s self-care, and it starts with leading your own life first.

Fun fact: I used to be a matchmaker—yep, sorting profile cards and analyzing compatibility for a dating service (lol what a summer job!).
You’d think I’d have created Tinder or Bumble by now, but I already had my forever Valentine—so no groundbreaking app from me! Because as you know business ideas come out of a need!!

Still, my matchmaking days taught me big lessons for both love and leadership:

1. Values > Interests – Shared hobbies are fun, but shared values forge true bonds. Same goes for business partnerships.
2.Communication Is Key – Misunderstandings happen when we assume. Whether in a relationship or a meeting, clarity builds trust.
3.Growth Mindset – In love and careers, evolve together or grow apart. Keep learning, keep growing.
4.Right Fit vs. Right Now – Don’t rush just because something looks good “on paper.” Long-term success comes from true alignment.
5. Confidence Attracts – People gravitate to those who know their worth. In romance or leadership, self-assurance is magnetic.

So whether you’re with a partner, a team, or rocking solo, remember: the best matches—personal or professional—start with clarity, confidence, and connection. (Mmm and these happen to be my coaching pillars!)
