We are very pleased to share some great news! 🎉
Two papers have been accepted for presentation at ICERI2026, both focusing on the role of Extended Reality (XR) in higher education and developed from the results of the European Erasmus+ Metaverse Academy project.
📘 “Understanding Students' Readiness for Extended Reality in Higher Education: Evidence from a Cross-Country Study”
This study examines students’ readiness to adopt XR technologies by considering their prior awareness, practical experience, and exposure to immersive technologies across different educational contexts. The research is based on data from 2,039 higher education students across ten countries, revealing important cross-country differences and different levels of maturity in XR adoption.
📗 “From Interest to Implementation: Students' Perceptions and Adoption of Extended Reality in Higher Education”
The second paper addresses a particularly relevant issue: the existence of a clear gap between students’ strong interest in using XR and its still limited integration into university curricula. The findings show that positive perceptions and willingness to use immersive technologies are considerably higher than their actual regular use in study programmes.
Both studies are part of a broader research line aimed at understanding how students’ interest in immersive technologies can be translated into real, accessible, and pedagogically meaningful learning experiences.
It is a pleasure to share this work with J.C. Fandos-Roig, S. Tena-Monferrer, M. Boronat-Navarro, L.J. Callarisa-Fiol and A. García-Joerger, from Universitat Jaume I and the University of Valencia.
These results would not have been possible without the collaboration of the partners and students involved in the Metaverse Academy project. Many thanks to everyone contributing to advancing the meaningful integration of XR technologies in higher education.
See you at ICERI2026! 🚀🎓
¡Muy contentos de compartir una excelente noticia! 🎉
📘 “Understanding Students' Readiness for Extended Reality in Higher Education: Evidence from a Cross-Country Study”
📗 “From Interest to Implementation: Students' Perceptions and Adoption of Extended Reality in Higher Education”
Fandos-Roig, S. Tena-Monferrer, M. Boronat-Navarro, L.J.
