📈 FROM STARTING TO SCALING
High growth startups are a key source of innovation in Europe - 65 per cent develop ‘new-to-the-world’ innovations, a new report by Nesta and Crunchbase shows.
Alongside them, we are asking governments to support startups’ role as an active innovation partner, by:
• Encouraging corporate-startup collaboration to boost private investments. For example, by creating platforms for startups to collaborate with corporates and other partners.
• Expanding governments’ toolboxes to engage with startups. For example, through innovative procurement and co-development.
• Promoting early enterprise education to improve the availability of suitable staff. For example, by building on the Entrepreneurship Competence Framework to design and evaluate enterprise education initiatives.

🏅 Who will be the 2020 most startup-friendly Corporates?
If you're a startup, please nominate the corporates you consider most active in . They could become really good candidates for the 2020 GLOBAL CORPORATE STARTUP STARS AWARDS, the annual celebration of the best global practices and role models in Open Innovation.
The prize is led by Mind the Bridge in partnership with EBAN European Business Angels Network, International Chamber of Commerce, WCF - World Chamber Federation and other partners
Companies that are awarded through this initiative have gone the extra mile to establish mutually-beneficial partnerships with startups – whether through procurement/licensing/partnerships, accelerators, direct investment, acquisitions or other dedicated internal programs.
Nominations submitted by these startups play an important role in determining the rankings. In fact, getting the startup perspective is key to providing a more complete assessment and identify the corporates that walk the talk.

“CVCs need to invest ahead of the business and create mutually beneficial opportunities for their portfolio and parent company”
Alberto Onetti Chairman Mind the Bridge discusses with Michiel Van Haersma Buma, Senior Implementation Manager for Shell Ventures, about how they are addressing this issue.
To leverage the innovation potential coming from CVC arms, a lot of effort and time needs to be dedicated to establishing a relationship between portfolio companies and business units. A challenging task to say the least.
As Michiel states:
“When you do an investment, nothing magically happens right away.”
To address this issue, more and more CVCs are now dedicating resources to create a bridge between their portfolio companies and business units. They act as a liaison between these two entities and play a pivotal role in making a collaboration successful.

CVC: The challenge of investing ahead of the business | Michiel V.H. Buma
Alberto Onetti, Chairman Mind the Bridge, sits down with Michiel Van Haersma Buma, Senior Implementation Manager for Shell Ventures, to discuss in depth how a global CVC like Shell Ventures is addressing the (missing) relationship between portfolio companies and the corporate business units.
