Is bias inevitable in the production of knowledge? 🧠 What challenges do we face when communicating what we know?
Our Grade 11 students tackled these massive questions and more last week at our Theory of Knowledge (TOK) Exhibition! It was incredible to see our community of parents, staff, and students come together for the event.
As the bridge between all DP subjects, this exhibition truly showcased the conceptual and critical thinking skills that the TOK course fosters as a central part of the IB diploma program. By selecting three real-world objects, our students analyzed different perspectives to give us all a deeper, more holistic understanding of how knowledge manifests itself in the real world. 🌍
A massive thank you to our students for their incredible hard work, and to our dedicated teachers for their endless guidance and support. What a successful event! 👏👏

The BFIS Chess Tournament is back! ♟️ Following the success of last year’s first-ever High School Chess Tournament, BFIS proudly hosted its second annual Chess Tournament, once again organized by dedicated students Anton and Fedor, joined by Andrii and Simon, grades 10 and 11.
This year, the tournament continued its mission of building a new school tradition while expanding beyond high school to include secondary school students as well. With 18 participants competing, the event brought together an even larger group of talented players for four exciting sessions of strategy, concentration, and competitive spirit.
All medals were claimed by grade 8 students! Congratulations to Leo for winning first place and a gold medal! Zimo and Harshad secured second and third places with silver and bronze medals respectively.
A huge thank you to all participants and organizers for making this year’s tournament another success. We’re excited to see this spring chess tradition continue to grow in the years ahead!

Looking back at last week! 📸✨ We loved hosting our Kindergarten and Grade 1 families for some incredible, hands-on learning.
Our Kindergarten parents joined their little ones to dive into animal families and habitats, kicking off the research for their "All About" books. Meanwhile, our Grade 1 families stepped back in time to explore the mysteries of Ancient Egypt, investigating artifacts and discovering how history comes to life!
Thank you to all the families who joined us and made these sessions so special!

Last week, our Grade 6 Computer Science students turned into software engineers! After interviewing their Grade 5 "clients" to identify tricky academic topics, the Grade 6 students designed and coded custom educational games to help them master those challenges.
It was an amazing day of testing, bug squashing, and peer-to-peer mentorship. Watching our students use code to support their friends’ learning is what it’s all about!
Highlights:
Custom Builds: Games tailored to Grade 5 learning goals.
User Feedback: Grade 5 students testing and reviewing the gameplay and function.
Real-World Skills: Designing for a real client!
