Per Sant Jordi regalem llibres, roses… i també moments compartits ❤️🌹📚🎶

Llegir amb els infants des de ben petits és un regal enorme: crea hàbit lector, reforça el llenguatge, estimula la imaginació i, sobretot, construeix vincle.

I sí… també podem “llegir música” junts.

Als llibres de Music Together trobem les lletres de les cançons, les partitures i moltes oportunitats per mirar, cantar i descobrir plegats. No cal saber llegir música: els infants simplement veuen que aquells símbols també expliquen històries sonores.

Avui pot començar amb una cançó abans d’anar a dormir. Demà pot convertir-se en amor per la lectura, per la música… o per totes dues coses.

Reading with children from a very early age is a huge gift: it builds reading habits, strengthens language, sparks imagination and, above all, creates connection.

And yes… we can also “read music” together.

In Music Together songbooks, families can find lyrics, sheet music, and many opportunities to look, sing, and discover together. You don’t need to read music: children simply learn that these symbols can tell musical stories too.

Today it may start with one song before bedtime. Tomorrow it may become a lifelong love for reading, music… or both.

Back in the baskets! 🥁

The "Global Rhythms Expedition" at the of Castelldefels is a wrap. It was an intense morning of pulse, syncopation, and collective energy, traveling from European folk traditions to the heart of a Brazilian Batucada.

But a workshop is only as good as the energy in the room, and today was special. A huge thank you to teachers Rosie, Jessica, and Alice for their incredible support and for helping manage the flow of 24 eager musicians per session.

A big shout-out to the Pandas, Koalas, and Polar Bears classes: you brought the rhythm to life! Seeing Year 4 students transition from steady resonator bells to the complex drive of the gathering drums was the highlight of our teacher Piero's day.

The instruments might need some tidying up now, but it’s a small price to pay for such a fantastic collaborative morning. 🙌✨

MIT Says Music Not Coding Might Be the Key to Raising Smarter Kids

If you’re debating between enrolling your child in piano lessons or a coding boot camp, new research from MIT might help you decide and the answer may surprise you.

According to the study, learning to code only activates general-purpose areas of the brain associated with logic and problem-solving. That’s not bad, but it doesn’t tap into the brain’s more powerful language centers, which are crucial for communication, memory, and cognitive flexibility.

In contrast, learning a musical instrument from an early age has been shown to build stronger, more lasting structural and functional brain connections particularly in regions responsible for speech, memory, and executive function. And here’s the kicker: these brain-boosting benefits stick around even if the child stops playing music later in life.

So while coding remains a valuable skill, researchers suggest that music offers deeper, longer-lasting cognitive development. If you want to future-proof your child's mind, a violin, guitar, or keyboard might be a better investment than an app or programming course.

Bottom line? Music isn’t just an art it’s brain food.
