The International Center for Work and Family founded its first Academic Forum in 2005.

The International Center for Work and Family founded an academic forum in 2005 to create a vision and to build theory, with special attention to the cross-cultural dimension and the application of theory in an organizational context. The aim of these conferences is to create a vision and to build theory, as well as to provide empirical evidence not only for the academia, but also for organizations. In 2019 the conference, held at IESE Barcelona (Spain) reached its 8th edition.

Through work-family balance, families and business can foster social responsibility, well-being, role modeling and sustainability. The ninth bi-annual International Conference of Work & Family aims to focus on individual and organizational capacity to manage work and social aspects of life under a sustainable view. We want to encourage research and discussion around solutions to make workplaces more sustainable, that is, that they promote employee well-being, family enrichment and environmental responsibility. We are interested on understanding practices, socio-cultural aspects and institutional frameworks that motivate work-family balance and foster social, economic and environmental sustainability.
