For several weeks now I've been changing my food habits, drinking 1L of water per day, and in general following a really balanced meal plan that's made for me (yes, there's still some pasta in there 👀, and yes I'm increasing it to 2L- baby steps! 😅)
I stepped on the scale yesterday and saw that I lost 3kg! How great is that? Upon reflection, this is not what gave me further motivation or the greatest joy.
It was actually the feeling that I just wasn't stressed about the scale, the food, sticking to it or not- I felt there was harmony for the first time in what I'm doing and that is an intrinsic value (in my case it's health, harmony, compassion with myself).
When we've got the opposite going on, we would feel uninspired or exhausted sometimes, even after you've achieved your goal like learning a new language, completing taxes or a diet detox cleanse; or any number of things that you think would make you feel accomplished (and they might short-term)
We can identify this type of motivation to complete tasks or goals as extrinsic motivation. Essentially it's external values that motivate us, for example you're complying because of either an external reward or to avoid punishment. Or your motivation lies in seeking validation from others. More often than not, we find ourselves exhausted after a while and it all comes to a halt.
Of course we all have to get on with our obligations, chores, etc. but how do we BALANCE this when it's "me-time"?
So, what gives us a different kind of motivation that's self-inspired?
It could be dancing on the beach, hiking in nature, or healthy eating...it's up to you to really identify what gives you joy.
What will you be doing this weekend just for you?

Pre-pandemic beach days. I love this picture because my dog is intensely looking out into the ocean. What could he thinking about? 🤔 Seems like he's staring into the future, ready to go.
I'm so grateful he's in my life b/c he reminds me to enjoy the moment. He's always ready for an adventure, he nudges me on, tells me "let's go mom"!
It's so important to go out and just go- enjoy the time off with your loved ones.
So on that note, have a great weekend everyone!

Have you heard of "no meetings Friday's?".
This is a best practice we use in our team and enables you and your teams to:
• free up dedicated blocks of time to work on projects/professional development/training
• reflect on the past week and organize the week ahead
• deliver on time
• clean up your inbox
• dedicate time to team building activities / connect with your network
• but most importantly, let's you and your teams EXHALE
What best practices do you follow?

Where is your journey taking you?
We often have a goal in mind like a promotion, a new job, a higher salary, or more clients.
Consider this though, what is behind that goal? What in your current situation is making you choose that specific goal.
As coaches we try to take you through a journey of transformation and that includes truly defining your goal. For example, are you looking for a promotion because you want to apply for a higher position? Ask yourself, what's stopping you from applying now? Is it a financial motivation? Then what would a better salary look like to you and what would it enable you to do?
As a coach I'm not only here to help you identify the motivation behind your goals, but also enable you to let go and set sail.

When I applied for Google (ages ago 👀), I had already interviewed with over 30 other companies. So I had a lot of practice and kept on refining my STARs. It paid off!

Happy Monday! How do you start the week? It's hard coming out of the weekend, isn't it?
Journaling can be a great way to set up goals, organize your thoughts, reflect on the big picture. Especially if you manage teams you can be pulled into all sorts of emergency meetings and ad hoc discussions which can drain all your energy already on day one. Taking the time to reflect and compose yourself not only helps maintain your energy levels but guide that of your teams as well.
Hope it helps!

We check our phone every 4.3 minutes...I do it, too!
Do you check it during your 121's or in other meetings? Or maybe at the dinner table?
Have a look at this Ted Talk of a digital marketer who got a Nokia phone and went "offline" and then switch off your smartphone for a couple of hours, see how you feel 👀😊

P.s: the irony of posting this on insta doesn't escape me, lol 😂🤪 I'll be off now, see ya tomorrow!
