-Living on a boat-
In May 2022 I spent one week on a boat crossing the Amazonas River from Belém to Manaus. It wasn't a touristic boat, so me, a German friend and an Italian one were the only Europeans on the boat. Before starting our trip, we three and our Brazilian friend bought a lot of bread, tuna, corn, lemons and some chocolates. This was our lunch and dinner for 7 days.
The Amazonas River seems as big as an ocean, so while sailing on the river there's no signal on the phone and of course no Wi-Fi. It was hard to find something to do that was different from what you did the day before. The only entertainment offered by the boat was the music of the kiosk on the top floor. Music that we didn't like at all, as it was so loud that there was no chance to listen to the magnificent nature sounds that were around us, and if this was not enough, the playlist lasted around 30 minutes and then started all over again.
Sleeping on a hammock was not as cold as I had imagined. You can hide inside of it as you were a caterpillar that becomes a butterfly every morning around 6am to get your breakfast.
We made two friends and one enemy on the boat. Yes, we had many misunderstandings with the woman from the kiosk, but at the end of the trip she turned out to be another friend.
The last picture, where I'm sitting with my legs hanging outside from the boat, it's from my birthday. It was the only day the rain felt on us, and I enjoyed it a lot. Everyone was hiding from the rain and I sat alone there, trying to be part of the nature.
Sounds really romantic, yeah? Well, on the next day I was also the only one sick, but that didn't stop me from walking through all the streets in Manaus.
