Ir de compras = to go shopping
This is a very common expression in Spanish. Let's make sure you use it right. Here are 3 possible points of confusion:
1. COMPRAS - NOUN vs VERB
Here 'compras' is a plural noun:
La compra = the shopping
Las compras = the shopping (plural)
For example:
hacer la compra = to do the shopping (usually groceries)
'Compras' is NOT from the verb 'comprar':
Compras (infinitive) = to buy
tú compras = you buy
él compra = he buys
nosotros compramos = we buy
2. In this case, the specific construction Ir + de signifies an activity. We can substitute other activities (nouns) with the same effect:
Ir de compras = to go shopping
Ir de viaje = go traveling / on a trip
Ir de copas = go for drinks
Ir de vacaciones = to go on vacation
Ir de pesca = to go fishing
Ir de marcha* = to go partying
Ir de excursión = to go hiking / on a trip
*marcha is slang for partying, but also can mean an actual march or protest
3. We still CONJUGATE IR when necessary ...
Voy de compras = I'm going shopping
And you can also make it future tense as in:
Voy a ir de compras = I am going to go shopping

Money Heist (La casa de papel)
Setting: Spain (Castilian Spanish)
IMDB Rating: 8.4
Number of seasons: 2
Available on:
Plot: A sort of Spanish Oceans 11, where the target is the Royal Mint of Spain.
Spanish Level: High.
Not the easiest to follow as a student because of the slang and intensity, but not a bad way to spend a few hours at home training your ear, if you're paying attention.
----------
La Casa de Papel translates literally to 'The House of Paper'. But in this case, 'papel' is slang for 'money', so a more accurate translation would be 'The Money House'. But instead they went with 'Money Heist' for the English version.
This is common with title translations between languages. Here are some additional examples:
Home Alone = 'Mi pobre angelito' (My poor little angle)
The Hangover = ¿Qué pasó ayer? (What happened yesterday?)
Pulp Fiction = Tiempos violentes (Violent times)
The Sound of Music = Sonrisas y lágrimas (Smiles and tears)
Do you know of any more? :)

:
lugar = place
cuyo = whose
acordarme = to remember / remind myself
, located just outside of Madrid, is known for being the birthplace of Miguel de Cervantes, the writer of Don Quijote de la Mancha. His famous book starts with the line:
"En un lugar de la Mancha, de cuyo nombre no quiero acordarme ..."
The verb 'acordarse' is reflexive (acordar-se). It is often confused with the verb 'recordar' which sounds similar and means essentially the same thing (to remember) but is not reflexive. Only one of these can be used with the reflexive pronoun (me, te, se, nos, os), so don't mix them up.

If you travel to the city of in northern Spain, you'll likely encounter 'maman' - the giant spider (araña) situated outside the world-famous Guggenheim museum.
Created by the french artist Louise Bourgeois, she dedicated (and named) her sculpture for her mother ('Maman' is actually french for 'mommy'). You can't see it very well in the photo, but in her abdomen are 26 eggs (huevos) made of marble.
