Tanta University Organizes “The First Environmental Forum for Delta Universities”
Under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Hussein, Tanta University President, and under the supervision of Prof. Mahmoud Selim, University Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development (Forum Coordinator), and Prof. Hager Alam Al-Din, Professor at the Faculty of Engineering (Forum Rapporteur), Tanta University has announced the organization of “The First Environmental Forum for Delta Universities,” scheduled to be held on 3 February 2026.
Prof. Mahmoud Selim affirmed that the aims to strengthen the role of in addressing challenges and achieving development. He noted that the forum serves as a leading platform bringing together creative students and researchers to contribute to the development of innovative environmental solutions. The forum seeks to benefit from academic capacities to confront current climate and environmental challenges, in line with Egypt Vision 2030.
The forum offers participation through two main tracks. The first track, Student Projects, includes in the fields of energy sustainability and renewable energy, recycling technologies and waste management, smart projects, and engineering applications, in addition to community innovation and digital transformation.
The second track, Scientific Research by Faculty Members, focuses on the fields of information technology, biotechnology, and nanotechnology.
It is worth noting that the deadline for submitting research papers and projects is January 20, 2026, with final acceptance of submissions to be announced on 25 January 2026.

Organizing a Data Analysis Course Titled “From Numbers to Decisions — a Data Analyst Program for Innovative Students”
Within the framework of continuing the activities and programs implemented under the initiative “A New Beginning for Human Development,” launched by His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, and in continuation of the pioneering role played by the Main Center for Sustainable Training, affiliated with the and Environmental Development Sector, in supporting and qualifying children and youth, the center announces the launch of the Course, titled “From Numbers to Decisions — a Data Analyst Program for Innovative Students,” directed at school students for the first time at the level of Egyptian universities.
This course is launched as a continuation of the qualification pathway initiated by the center through the Labs, which targeted school students and implemented many training activities and events in the fields of innovation, digitalization, automation, the use of modern technology, and artificial intelligence — contributing to the preparation of an aware generation qualified to meet future requirements.
The Data Analyst Course is offered to school students who have been carefully selected from among participants in the preliminary qualifying courses conducted at the Innovation Labs. This endeavor reflects the center’s commitment to investing in outstanding students, developing their analytical and digital capabilities, and linking early education to future skills required by the labor market.
The course will be held on Sunday and Monday of the coming week via the distance learning platform of the Human Development Center, providing a modern, interactive learning environment based on the latest methods — fostering gradual, age-appropriate skill development.

Launch of the “Recycling, a Touch of Change” Training Program at the Faculty of Applied Arts — Tanta University
Under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Hussein, Tanta University President, and within the framework of the university’s commitment to supporting environmental issues and developing students’ skills, the activities of the training program entitled “ , a Touch of Change” were launched today at the Faculty of Applied Arts — . The program is organized by the Main Center for Public Services at Tanta University, in cooperation with the Faculty of Applied Arts and the Directorate of Education in Governorate.
The program is offered as part of the university’s efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, promote a culture of recycling, and develop the creative and innovative potential of youth in ways that serve both society and the environment.

Under the Patronage of Prof. Mohamed Hussein, Tanta University President, Announces Results of the Qualifying Stage of the “Best Environmentally Friendly Faculty” Competition
Prof. Mohamed Hussein, Tanta University President, announced the convening of the final presentation session of the qualifying stage of the “Best Environmentally Friendly Faculty” for 2025, held under the supervision of Prof. Mahmoud Selim, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Prof. Emad Attman, Former Vice President of the Sector and Chair of the Evaluation Committee.
These sessions were dedicated to reviewing the faculties’ efforts in adopting sustainable practices. The results led to the advancement of three faculties to the final stage (in no particular order): the Faculty of , the Faculty of , and the Faculty of .
Field visits by the Evaluation Committee are scheduled for Sunday, February 1, to verify all on-ground preparations and select the winning faculty.
The organizing committee pointed out that the first stage of the competition included strong competition among the university’s faculties, all of which submitted comprehensive technical files that met the specified evaluation criteria and requirements.
These files included detailed data on the total areas of green spaces and planted trees within each faculty, the budgets allocated for sustainability efforts and facilities, and the availability of infrastructure specifically designed for persons with disabilities, as well as maternity and childcare facilities.
In addition, the submitted files provided evidence of the availability of safe pedestrian pathways and an integrated system to ensure the safety and security of individuals and facilities.
Prof. Mohamed Hussein affirmed that the outcomes of this competition are fully aligned with the objectives of Egypt Vision 2030, noting that the university places great importance on monitoring and evaluating infrastructure- and energy-related programs through information technology.
He highlighted the measurement of these programs’ impact on supporting the achievement of the 17 Goals, positioning the university on the path toward comprehensive digital and green transformation.
For his part, Prof. Mahmoud Selim, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, stated that the Community Service Sector adopts clear policies and executable plans to achieve sustainability in line with United Nations goals. He pointed out that the evaluation included precise criteria related to the management of alternative and renewable energy, reliance on energy-efficient equipment, the implementation of policies promoting the use of environmentally friendly vehicles that do not rely on fossil fuels within the faculties, and the activation of innovative programs to reduce and gases.
Prof. Emad Ettman explained that the philosophy behind selecting and weighting the evaluation indicators focused on the comprehensiveness of environmental performance, starting from the treatment of hazardous waste and the of and inorganic waste, through to the efficiency of water management and the implementation of conservation and recycling programs. Significant weight was also allocated to environment-related scientific research, as well as the number of courses, events, and student activities that support issues.

Prof. Mahmoud Selim, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, delivered a presentation titled “Strategies for Empowering University Leadership — Toward Integrating Egypt Vision 2030 into Fourth-Generation Systems”, as part of the activities of the Administrative Leaders Preparation Course, organized by the University Training Administration.
The course was attended by 85 administrative leaders from the university, including the University Secretary-General, Assistant Secretaries-General, Secretaries-General of the faculties, General Directors, and Department Directors, within the framework of the university’s ongoing efforts to enhance the efficiency of its administrative system.
During his presentation, Prof. Selim addressed several key strategic pillars, beginning with a focus on the planning framework and the formulation of executive plans in alignment with Egypt Vision 2030 and the National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research.
He confirmed the importance of adopting clear mechanisms and policies based on precise performance evaluation indicators, aiming to achieve the highest levels of financial and administrative governance across the various university sectors.
The Vice President also reviewed the latest contemporary university management systems and human resources management mechanisms, affirming the necessity of keeping pace with the transformations imposed by fourth-generation universities. He explained that this approach seeks to ensure outstanding productive outputs and the optimal utilization of available human and material resources, in accordance with the university’s organizational capabilities.

Tanta University Vice President Commends Ministry of Social Solidarity’s Efforts in Supporting Students in Financial Need

Under the auspices of Prof. Mohamed Hussein, Tanta University President, and in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Solidarity, the university has successfully provided financial aid to students facing financial difficulties. Prof. Selim noted that the total funds allocated for paying tuition fees amounted to EGP 10,292,998.42, benefiting 4,909 male and female students.
Prof. Mahmoud Selim declared that this fruitful was distributed across specific timeframes. During the 2022–2023 academic year, financial support totaling EGP 5,603,458.35 was provided to serve 2,905 students. These efforts continued throughout the 2024–2025 academic year, covering the fees of 2,004 students with a total expenditure of EGP 4,689,539.89. The Council for Community Service and Environmental Development at Tanta University held its regular meeting under the chairmanship of Prof. Mahmoud Selim, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development. The meeting was attended by Prof. Afaf Abdel Aziz Basal, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing; Prof. Mona Abdel Hamid El-Aassar, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy; Prof. Mohamed Ibrahim Mohamed, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Applied Arts; along with a distinguished group of Vice Deans for Community Service and Environmental Development representing the faculties of Agriculture, Medicine, Arts, Science, Specific Education, Sports Science, and Business.
The meeting also had active participation from senior officials of the executive bodies in Gharbia Governorate, including Engr. Nasser Hassan Ismail, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education; Engr. Mohamed Abdullah Kotb, representative of the Environmental Affairs Authority; Dr. Essam Abdullah, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Solidarity; Engr. During the meeting, Prof. Mahmoud Selim affirmed that Tanta University places paramount importance on following up the implementation of the outcomes and recommendations of the “First Environmental Forum of Delta Region Alliance Universities,” which was hosted by the university last month under the theme “Academia and Industry… Bridging the Gap.” He indicated that the forum produced a comprehensive roadmap focused on directing scientific research in the fields of nanotechnology, artificial intelligence, and biotechnology toward applied solutions addressing energy and sustainability challenges.
