Sohag University Shapes Future Female Leaders: Al-Nuamany Honors First Graduates of the "Girls of the Land" Camp
Dr. Hassan El-Nomany, President of Sohag University, attended the closing ceremony of the first specialized training camp focused on preparing and developing business models organized by “Masar” incubator as part of the “Girls of the Earth” (Fatayat Al-Ard) program, the event saw the participation of 70 young women benefiting from the initiative. The ceremony was held at Masar incubator’s headquarters on the university’s old campus and was attended by Dr. Ashraf Okasha, Director of the Masar incubator, and Wael Rashad, an entrepreneurship consultant and program trainer. Dr. Hassan El-Nomany emphasized that Sohag University places the economic empowerment of women and support for the governorate’s productive clusters at the forefront of its social and developmental mission. He noted that the "Girls of the Land" program serves as a practical example of the university's role in building the capabilities of women and girls, equipping them with the knowledge and tools necessary to participate actively in economic activities and create new employment and production opportunities within their local communities during the closing ceremony, El-Nomany held an open dialogue with the participating young women He made a point of encouraging and motivating them to leverage the knowledge and skills acquired during the training camp, to continue developing their capabilities, and to participate actively in economic and developmental activities within their local communities, emphasizing the university's support for young women with serious and ambitious ideas Dr. Ashraf Okasha explained that the training camp marks the beginning of the second phase of the "Girls of the Earth" program, following the completion of 10 field training rounds in the Al-Maragha, Tahta, and Saqalta centers—which benefited 500 girls and women. He noted that the current phase aims to train 400 girls and women in developing business models for ideas and projects linked to the value chains of onion and loofah clusters He added that the program does not conclude with the end of the training sessions; instead, the teams and business models will be evaluated, and the best among them selected to receive technical and advisory support, as well as assistance in establishing and launching production cooperatives and transforming their ideas into viable, sustainable, and scalable projects.
