في زمنٍ كان فيه العلم حكرًا على الرجال، استطاعت الدكتورة سميرة موسى أن تكتب اسمها بحروف من ذهب كأول عالمة ذرة مصرية، ورمزٍ للإصرار والطموح.
تفوقت في دراستها، وأصبحت أول امرأة تعمل بهيئة التدريس في كلية العلوم بجامعة القاهرة، كما كانت أول مصرية تحصل على الدكتوراه في الإشعاع الذري.
لكن طموحها لم يتوقف عند الإنجازات العلمية، بل آمنت بأن الطاقة الذرية يجب أن تكون وسيلة لخدمة الإنسانية، وكانت تحلم بأن يصبح علاج السرطان بالطاقة الذرية في متناول الجميع.
كما كانت من أوائل الداعين إلى الاستخدام السلمي للطاقة النووية، ورفعت شعار “الذرة من أجل السلام”، لتترك إرثًا علميًا وإنسانيًا ما زال يلهم الأجيال حتى اليوم.

At a time when science was dominated by men, Dr. Samira Moussa made history as Egypt’s first female nuclear scientist and became a symbol of ambition, determination, and excellence.
She graduated at the top of her class and became the first woman to hold a teaching position at Cairo University’s Faculty of Science, as well as the first Egyptian woman to earn a PhD in Atomic Radiation.
However, her ambitions extended far beyond scientific achievements. She believed that nuclear energy should serve humanity and dreamed of making cancer treatment using atomic energy as simple and accessible as possible.
She was also one of the earliest advocates for the peaceful use of nuclear energy, promoting the idea of “Atoms for Peace,” leaving behind a scientific and humanitarian legacy that continues to inspire generations.
