Professor of Structural Engineering and Head of Structural Engineering Department at Ain Shams University, Egypt

Professor Ayman Khalil is a distinguished expert in structural and reinforced concrete engineering, with extensive academic, research, and professional experience. He currently serves as Head of the Structural Engineering Department and Head of the Reinforced Concrete Research Unit at Ain Shams University.

His research focuses on structural behavior and design, including shear strength of reinforced concrete structures, prestressed concrete systems, structural health monitoring, dynamic and seismic response of structures, and retrofitting techniques.

Professor Khalil is also the Founder and Executive Manager of Arabia for Design and Engineering Consulting (ADEC), leading major engineering projects across Egypt and the Middle East, including high-rise buildings, bridges, hospitals, and large-scale infrastructure developments.

He is an active contributor to engineering practice and standards, serving as a member of the Egyptian Code Committees for concrete structures, bridges, and strengthening, as well as a member of the Saudi Road Code Committee.

With a strong record in both academia and industry, Professor Khalil has supervised numerous research projects, contributed to international engineering developments, and played a key role in advancing structural engineering practices.

🌟 ICSGASE’26 Keynote Highlight: Prof. Mohamed A. ElGawady 🎤
We are honored to welcome Prof. Mohamed A. ElGawady as a Keynote Speaker at the International Conference on Sustainable Geotechnical and Advanced Structural Engineering (ICSGASE’26).

🔹 About the Speaker
Prof. Mohamed A. ElGawady is a Professor and Alard and Sheri Kaplan Faculty Scholar in the Department of Civil, Architectural, and Environmental Engineering at the Missouri University of Science and Technology, where he also serves as Director of the Structural Engineering Research Laboratory.

Prof. ElGawady earned his Ph.D. in Structural Engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL). His research focuses on the resilience and performance of infrastructure systems under extreme loading and deterioration, including impact damage, seismic effects, and durability-driven degradation.

He leads large-scale experimental and analytical research programs on the behavior, assessment, and repair of damaged structural systems, with particular emphasis on transportation infrastructure. His work integrates dynamic testing, advanced materials, and performance-based methodologies to develop practical solutions that enhance infrastructure safety and extend service life.

Prof. ElGawady has served as Principal Investigator on numerous federally and state-funded research projects and maintains strong collaborations with transportation agencies and industry partners. In addition to his research contributions, he plays an active leadership role within the civil engineering community as Editor-in-Chief of Innovative Infrastructure Solutions (Springer) and as a member of several editorial boards and technical committees related to structural engineering and infrastructure resilience.

ICSGASE’26 Keynote Highlight: Keynote Speaker at the International Conference on Sustainable Geotechnical and Advanced Structural Engineering (ICSGASE’26).

🔹 About the Speaker Prof. Edwardd Kavazanjian is a Regents Professor and the Ira A. Fulton Professor of Geotechnical Engineering in the School of Sustainable Engineering and the Built Environment in the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering at Arizona State University.

Professor Kavazanjian’s expertise includes geotechnical engineering for civil infrastructure systems, design and construction of waste containment systems, geotechnical earthquake engineering, the mechanical properties of solid waste, and the emerging field of biogeotechnical engineering. He is recipient of the 2009 Ralph B. Peck Award, 2010 Thomas A. Middlebrooks Award, and the 2011 Terzaghi Award from the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). In 2013, he was elected to the National Academy of Engineering for his work on landfills and geotechnical earthquake engineering. In August 2015, he became Director of the Center for Bio-mediated and Bio-inspired Geotechnics (CBBG), a National Science Foundation-funded Gen-3 Engineering Research Center dedicated to the emerging sub-discipline of biogeotechnical engineering. In 2018, he was elected a Distinguished Member of ASCE and is past-president of the ASCE Geo-Institute and the US University Council for Geotechnical Education and Research (USUCGER).
