ArchCairo Team Wins Second Prize at the International MED Green Forum 2026 in Italy
فوز فريق من عمارة القاهرة بالجائزة الثانية في منتدى المتوسط الأخضر الدولي 2026 بإيطاليا

تفخر عمارة القاهرة بالإعلان عن فوز فريق من برنامج الهندسة المعمارية بالجائزة الثانية في مسابقة الطلبة الدولية، ضمن فعاليات النسخة الثامنة من منتدى المتوسط الأخضر
والذي عُقد بقسم العمارة بجامعة فلورنسا بإيطاليا في خلال الفترة من ٨–١٠ أبريل ٢٠٢٦.
ضم الفريق: الطالبة ساندي باسم موريس يوسف – الفرقة الرابعة؛ فاطمة إيهاب محمد رجب – خريجة؛ شهد ضرغام – معيدة بالقسم؛ وذلك تحت إشراف الأستاذ الدكتور محسن محمد أبو النجا.

وقد تنافس الفريق مع 13 فريقًا (39 طالبًا) يمثلون أربع جامعات من مصر وإيطاليا وتشيلي.

كما شهد المنتدى مشاركة متميزة من أعضاء هيئة التدريس والهيئة المعاونة بالقسم، من خلال عروض بحثية وملصقات علمية وفعاليات أكاديمية متنوعة.

خالص التهنئة لفريق العمل ولكل المشاركين، مع أطيب الأمنيات بمزيد من النجاح والتميز الدولي.

ArchCairo is proud to announce that a team from the ArchCairo has won the second prize in the International Student Competition, held as part of the 8th Edition of the MED Green Forum, hosted by the Department of Architecture at University of Florence, Italy, from April 8–10, 2026.

The team included: Sandy Bassem Morris Youssef – Fourth-Year Student; Fatma Ehab Mohamed Ragab – Graduate; Shahd Dergham – Teaching Assistant, under the supervision of Professor Mohsen Mohamed Abou El-Naga.

The team competed against 13 teams (39 students) representing four universities from Egypt, Italy, and Chile.

The forum also witnessed distinguished participation from faculty members and teaching assistants from the department through research presentations, scientific posters, and various academic activities.

Warm congratulations to the team and all participants, with best wishes for continued international success and excellence.

Book: Mapping trees in Egyptian cities
كتاب: خرائط الأشجار في المدن المصرية

يسعدنا تقديم هذا الإصدار الذي يوثّق تجربة بحثية وميدانية، نتجت عن عمل جماعي مع فريق من الشباب والشابات، في إطار ورشة شتوية الورشة تحت عنوان “خرائط الاشجار فى المدن المصرية”
من تنظيم جامعة القاهرة ، من خلال مقرر الدراسات العليا “ المدينة المصرية”والذى استمرت لنحو عشرة أيام خلال فبراير 2023. يركّز الكتاب على توثيق ورسم خرائط لجزء من الأشجار في كل من: حديقة الأورمان، وحديقة الحيوان بالجيزة، وجامعة القاهرة، بما في ذلك حرم كلية الهندسة – جامعة القاهرة.

يعكس هذا العمل أهمية الأشجار كعنصر أساسي في تشكيل المشهد الحضري والبيئي، ويقدّم قراءة مكانية توثيقية تسهم في فهم العلاقة بين الطبيعة والمدينة. الكتاب ليس فقط توثيقًا، بل تجربة تعليمية وتشاركية تفتح آفاقًا جديدة للتفكير في دور الطبيعة داخل النسيج العمراني.

We are pleased to present this publication, which documents a research and field-based experience developed through collaborative work with a small team of young participants, through the winter workshop titled “Tree Mapping in Egyptian Cities.”
It was organized by Cairo University as part of the postgraduate course “The Egyptian City” in February 2023. The book focuses on documenting and mapping selected trees in: Orman Garden, Giza Zoo, and Cairo University, including the campus of the Faculty of Engineering – Cairo University.

This work highlights the importance of trees as a fundamental component in shaping the urban and environmental landscape. It offers a spatial and documentary reading that contributes to a deeper understanding of the relationship between nature and the city.
The book is not only a record of documentation, but also a collaborative and educational experience that opens new perspectives on the role of nature within the urban fabric.
