🎤 Pair Interview

A simple activity for Grammar & Speaking

✔️ Students work in pairs
✔️ They ask and answer questions about hobbies, routines, and facts
✔️ They take notes while interviewing their partner

🗣️ Presentation:
Students introduce their partner using the present simple:
He likes… / He usually wakes up at…

👀 Class task:
The rest of the class takes notes to play a memory game later.

In reading lessons, students are not expected to understand every single word, and teachers are not required to teach every new word. The focus should be on the words that hinder comprehension, while encouraging students to keep reading when they encounter unfamiliar words, as in real life they will come across words they don’t know.

A structured activity can help students deal with new vocabulary effectively:
1. Each student writes a list of five words they do not know but want to understand.
2. Pairs of students combine their lists to create a shared list of five words.
3. Groups of four then work together to consolidate their lists into a final list of five words.

Through this activity, students collaborate to figure out the meanings of new words and can use a dictionary as a resource, providing a practical example of how to use a dictionary in the classroom.

التيتشر هيوزع فورم فيها اسئلة عن ال hobbies , routines , facts
مفروض كل شخص يسأل ال قاعد جنبه ويكتب اجاباته
مثال

بعدين كل اتنين هيقعدوا قدام الكلاس ويقدموا بعض باستخدام المضارع البسيط
Today I will speak about my friend, …….
He *likes* ………
He usually *wakes* up at ………..
باقي الكلاس مفروض يكون عنده تاسك عشان ينتبهوا وميتكلموش فممكن التيتشر وقتها يطلب منهم ياخدوا نوتس بالاجابات عشان يلعبوا بعدها memory game

في لعبة اسمها name as many
ممكن تتلعب بكذا طريقة
ممكن ك warm up او lead in

مثال : لو الدرس الجديد ريدينج عن دولة
هنقسمهم جروبس
كل جروب ياخد chart
التيتشر يكتب ع البورد name as many countries as possible
يشتغل تايمر ع السمارت تي في ويكون الوقت قليل دقيقة مثلا
وبعدين سريعا ياخد الاجابات من كل الجروبس ع الوايت بورد بالتناوب مع مراعاة ال spelling ومنها يقدم الدرس الجديد سواء حد كان كتبها او هو يقدمها

الطريقة التانية اننا نستخدمها مع اي ليفيل عشان نعودهم يستخدموا القاموس وهنا هنعمل نفس الخطوات بس هندي وقت اطول وهنسمح باستخدام القاموس
طبعا قبلها لازم التيتشر يعمل demonstration لازاي نستخدمه

جيم خفيفة ممكن نعملها في درس الاسبيكينج معتمدة ع الذاكرة
هنخليهم يقعدوا اتنين
وهنطلب منهم يبصوا ع كل حاجة في الكلاس بتمعن بما فيه باقي زمايلهم
بعد كدا واحد من ال pair هيغمض عينه والتاني يساله اسئلة عن الكلاس

ممكن كا warm up لدرس رايتينج
التيتشر يقولهم جمل وهما يكملوها زي

طبعا يُفضل تكون structures اخدوها قبل كده
هيعملوا ده لوحدهم وبعدين يشاركوا اجاباتهم مع بعض ويتاكدوا من ال spelling
وبعدين يشاركوها مع كل الفصل انهم يقراوها بصوت عالي

عندنا مصطلح في التدريس personalised activities
يعني لازم نربط ال بيدرسوه بحياتهم اليومية او نخلي في علاقة عشان يكون في هدف من التعليم وده بيخليهم يستمتعوا اكتر
مثال:
ممكن في درس الماضي ك free practice
نلعب معاهم The first
هنطلب منهم يجاوبوا مجموعة اسئلة بعد ما نجاوب احنا الاول عشان نديلهم موديل يمشوا عليه

What was the first thing you ate this morning?
Who was the first person you met this week?

الاسئلة دي بتخليهم يفكروا ويستخدموا الماضي في authentic context
ممكن يتدربوا بعدها انهم يسالوا ويجاوبوا

Hot seat game🗣️

Send a student outside the class and ask him to think of questions to ask his classmates
The rest of the class should agree on a parttern while answering his questions
This could be:
Touching the nose
Crossing the legs
Always starting with yes/no then the answer
Only answering using adjectives
Repeating the question before answering
The student on the hot seat should guess the pattern

ممكن نخليها ممتعة اكتر ان التيتشر هو ال يكون بيسال وكل
طالب ليه فرصة يجاوب قبل ما التيتشر يخمن

في كل سيشن بنطلع بمجموعة من الكلمات الجديدة ال المفروض ياخدوا نوتس بيها وتكون معاهم
ممكن نستفيد منها وفي نفس الوقت نعرضهم ليها طول الوقت اننا نستخدمها ك warm up في الدرس ال بعده
زي اننا نربط بينهم بان كل كلمة ابدا باخر حرف الكلمة ال قبلها وهكذا
هما هيسمعوا ويخمنوا اي العلاقة ال بين الكلمات

How to teach your students to write a poems in 10 steps

هنا التيتشر هيدي مجموعة من الاوامر والطلاب هيكتبوا معاه وهيسيب مهلة بينهم
1. Look around in the class, choose an item and simply describe it without using your imagination (advise them to look and notice something they haven't noticed before)

2.Write one sentence about the lighting, shadows and patterns in the room

3.Look at one of your classmates and describe him as if it is the first time to see a human

4.Try to guess what this human is thinking of

5.Look at yourself the same way. Your hands, for instance. Write a sentence about it

6.Look at the window and describe the view (It is better if the teacher can take them to a room with an actual view)

7.Listen to the noise around you and describe it (There shouldn't be any noise in the class. Here they should focus on far noises)

8. How are you feeling? Write one sentence about it

9.Write something about the future

10.Final stage: Look at your poem. Reorder the sentence. You can cross things out. Add poetical devices.

طبعا التيتشر قبلها لازم يكون شرح يعني ايه شعر وايه الخصائص بتاعته، ممكن بعدها كل طالب يقرا القصيدة بتاعته للفصل كله

A simple icebreaker with adults would be pairing each student with someone they don't know, asking them to chat for about 10 mins about anything (likes, life, interests...etc.). They should divide the time equally, and while one talks, the other should take notes of the personal or most interesting information

الخطوة الجاية ع حسب عدد الطلاب لو الفصل كبير هنخليهم يتجمعوا في جروبس من ٦ ويبدا كل طالب يقدم صاحبه للجروب ، لو العدد صغير كل اتنين هيقدموا بعض للفصل كله

Listening for them is much harder than most teachers ever believe

We have to tackle listening as a skill not as test; It is not enough to make them listen then ask for the answers to the audio. Ask them about the answers; see who agrees and who doesn't; reveal the right answer with a reason (The answer is YES because in the recording it says ........) Make them listen again to the right answer, and when they listen, sit still. Fussing around can be disturbing for them. Don't automatically replay. Let them check if they can do the task
