🌍 Advancing Global Research Engagement in Postgraduate Prosthodontics

As part of the Faculty of Dentistry’s ongoing globalization and internationalization strategy at Badr University in Cairo, we were privileged to welcome Prof. Yurdanur Uçar, The Ohio State University College of Dentistry, USA, for a distinguished scientific presentation delivered to our postgraduate Prosthodontics students.

The session focused on future research directions in Prosthodontics, Digital Dentistry, Dental Materials, Implantology, and Additive Manufacturing, providing our students with valuable insights into emerging technologies, innovative research methodologies, and international trends shaping contemporary dental practice and education.

Prof. Uçar’s extensive academic and research experience greatly enriched the discussion and inspired our postgraduate candidates to pursue impactful research projects that address current global challenges and opportunities in dentistry.

📢 Postgraduate Research Discussion Sessions

As part of the ongoing international co-supervision program for Master’s degree theses at the Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine, Badr University in Cairo (BUC), two postgraduate research protocol discussion sessions were successfully conducted today in collaboration with external professors Dr. Feng Liu, Professor and Director of the Clinical Division, Peking University Hospital of Stomatology, China, and Dr. Xiaorui Shi (Stella), Department of Prosthodontics, Peking University (PKU), China.

The discussed research projects addressed contemporary applications of artificial intelligence in Prosthodontics, including AI-assisted smile design and digital color matching technologies, reflecting the faculty’s commitment to innovation, digital transformation, and international academic collaboration.

The sessions demonstrated a distinguished level of scientific discussion, critical analysis, and research development, highlighting the continuous advancement of postgraduate education and joint international supervision at BUC.

We extend our sincere appreciation to all supervisors and postgraduate candidates for their dedicated efforts, and special thanks to Dr. Feng Liu and Dr. Xiaorui Shi (Stella) for their valuable academic contributions, continuous support, and collaborative role in strengthening international research partnerships.

The Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine at Badr University in Cairo is delighted to welcome Professor Amr S. Fawzy as a Visiting Professor at the faculty.

Professor Amr S. Fawzy is an internationally distinguished clinician-scientist and academic leader serving as Professor of Restorative Dentistry and Dental Biomaterials at The University of Western Australia, where he also chairs the Dental School Research Committee and leads the Biomaterials and Dental Technology research stream. His pioneering work spans restorative dentistry, prosthodontics, dental biomaterials, nanodentistry, focused ultrasound technologies, adhesive dentistry, and digital dental technologies.

This appointment represents an important step toward strengthening the academic and research collaboration between Badr University in Cairo and The University of Western Australia, particularly in the fields of postgraduate education, international research collaboration, and joint supervision programs that have become a key pillar of the Faculty’s internationalization strategy.

We look forward to a productive and impactful collaboration that will further enhance scientific research, postgraduate training, innovation in dental education, and international academic exchange between both institutions.

As part of the ongoing international co-supervision program for Master’s degree theses at the Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine, Badr University in Cairo, our postgraduate students successfully presented a new thesis research discussion session under the supervision of the external mentor Dr. Jean Chia Chih Peng, School of Dentistry, University of Washington, USA.

The presented research focused on the accuracy of 3D-printed restorations and the influence of different printing and post-curing protocols on marginal adaptation, reflecting the growing integration of digital dentistry and advanced prosthodontic research within our postgraduate programs.

The session demonstrated a distinguished level of scientific discussion, critical thinking, and research methodology, highlighting the continuous development of postgraduate education and international academic collaboration at BUC.
