As part of the series of three webinars offered by the United Nations Department for General Assembly and Conference Management ahead of its upcoming competitive examination (CELP) for Arabic-language interpreters, we are pleased to inform you that the third webinar will take place on Friday, 15 November 2024, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. EDT (New York time).
Entitled “United Nations Interpretation Exams Assessment Criteria”, the webinar will be delivered and moderated by United Nations staff interpreters. It will be conducted in English with linguistic references to terminology in Arabic and French.

Please be informed that the sixteenth St. Jerome Translation Contest was launched on 20 March 2023 and is being hosted by the Conference Management Service in Vienna.
The deadline of Monday, 29 May 2023.

The United Nations has announced a competitive examination for English Interpreters. Successful candidates may be stationed at Headquarters in New York or at the United Nations Offices at Geneva, Nairobi or Vienna.

The United Nations will soon hold a Global Language Roster (GLR) examination for short-term English conference interpreters. Candidates should have a perfect command of English, as well as an excellent command of French, and either Russian or Spanish. Candidates from underrepresented regions may be admitted with only French as a passive language.

The publication period for this GLR exam is very brief, the deadline for submitting applications being set at Thursday, 24 November 2022.
A preselection test will be held on 10 January 2023, and the final test will take place 31 January 2023, with a possible additional day of examination on 1 February 2023, if required. The series of tests will be run remotely on Vidcruiter software; candidates will be participating from their own location, and will have to ensure that they are properly equipped to hear and record audio.
Candidates wishing to apply should first create a profile on the UN Careers portal, if they don’t have one yet, and make sure they finalize their application and submit it by the deadline. Successful candidates may be stationed at Headquarters in New York, at the United Nations Offices at Geneva, Nairobi or Vienna or at the regional commissions in Addis Ababa, Bangkok, Beirut or Santiago.
