The first curriculum is not found in books,
But in the warmth of a devoted look.
The first classroom, a sanctuary of skin,
Where the journey of becoming begins.

You are the first hug—the blueprint of trust,
The first step taken from dust to “you must.”
The first laugh, a sonnet of untaught delight,
The first achievement, held closely at night.

You are the gardener of the unseen seed,
Planting resilience in word and in deed.
From fragile root to a fruit-bearing tree,
Your love is the lesson in setting us free.

It is limitless—no boundary, no end,
A pedagogical art that knows how to bend.
It is unconditional, steady, and true,
The flawless foundation we build our lives through.

To every mother, every guiding soul,
Who shapes the narrative, who makes us whole—
You are not just a gift; you are the craft,
The steady hand behind the launching raft.

Today, we honor your devoted art—
The first, most profound impact on the heart.

What a day! We celebrated Eid Al-Fitr in style and our hearts are so full!

From the moment we stepped into the grannies' storytelling tent to the final splash in the pool and water balloons, it was non-stop fun! Our students shined with their drama pr, got competitive with telematches, showed their creativity with art and painting, and filled the air with beautiful voices during the choir performance.

But the highlight? Watching our students run their own bazaar and raised funds for cancer patients. You are the true heroes of this celebration!

Eid Mubarak to our wonderful community!

Meet Ms. Sara Amr – PYP 1 Homeroom Teacher

With 13 years of experience in education and a unique background in Marketing from Sadat Academy for Management Science, Ms. Sara brings a dynamic and creative approach to the classroom. As a PYP 1 Homeroom Teacher at Al Farouk International School, she is dedicated to nurturing inquiring, knowledgeable, and caring young learners.

Her classroom is a space where project-based learning and collaborative activities invite students to explore diverse perspectives and construct their own understanding of the world. Deepening her expertise within the IB framework, Ms. Sara has completed IBDP CAS (Category 2) and ToK (Category 1) training, ensuring her practice aligns with global educational standards.

Guided by the philosophy of Benjamin Franklin—“Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn”—Ms. Sara designs learning experiences that are both engaging and meaningful. Her commitment to student agency is evident in the way her learners confidently take the lead in organizing school-wide events, such as the annual bazaar, fostering a strong sense of community and empowerment.

Beyond the classroom, Ms. Sara enjoys watching movies and is a proud mother of twin daughters, bringing the same warmth and dedication she shares with her students into her home life.

We are honored to have her on our team!

Behind Every Great School is a Great Team

At Al Farouk International School, our greatest strength lies not only in our curriculum or facilities, but in the hearts and minds of our team. They are exceptionally talented, endlessly creative, and deeply dedicated to the holistic development of every child entrusted to us.

In our classrooms, teaching transcends instruction—it is about building lifelong bonds. It is about nurturing young gifts, shaping characters, and fostering a love for learning that lasts a lifetime. Our educators pour their passion into every lesson, every interaction, and every moment of care.

This level of excellence is sustained through continuous professional growth: rigorous planning, collaborative workshops, and a shared commitment to evolving as educators. But beyond the hard work and dedication, what truly defines us is the spirit of collaboration and support.

We are not just a team—we are a family. A family that grows together, led by a philosophy of leadership that empowers from behind, guiding rather than directing, and lifting each other every step of the way.

Moments like our recent Ramadan Iftar remind us of the beauty of this bond. Gathered as one big, strong family, we shared laughter, gratitude, and a sense of belonging. It was a warm, cozy, and truly wonderful evening—a Tamara night to remember.

To our incredible team: this is our way of saying a simple yet heartfelt thank you. Your dedication is the heartbeat of Al Farouk.

Shaping Global Citizens, One Inquiry at a Time

At Al Farouk International School, our learning environment is more than just a classroom—it is a vibrant community of inquiry where young minds are nurtured to question, wonder, and explore.

We are proud to be a highly performing New Brunswick Offshore school and a candidate school following the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP) , both framework transforms learning into an engaging, relevant, and challenging journey.

By adopting a transdisciplinary model, our students explore themes of global significance, making meaningful connections across subject areas. Traditional disciplines serve as lenses through which students investigate complex, big ideas—fostering critical thinking from the earliest stages of childhood.

Inquiry is at the heart of our pedagogy. We encourage our students to doubt, speculate, and generalize as they construct meaning about the world around them. Through this process, they don’t just learn facts; they learn how to think. Our learners engage with significant local and global issues, developing the ability to consider situations critically from multiple perspectives.

True learning extends beyond the curriculum. We believe that developing international mindedness begins with a strong sense of personal and community identity.

We are committed to raising lifelong learners who appreciate their own identity while respecting and celebrating the identities of others.

Ramadan & Healthy Habits: When Learning Comes to Life

At Al Farouk International School, we believe that religion is not just about rituals we perform—it's about principles we live and apply in our daily lives.

This Ramadan, our students are making meaningful connections through an exciting hands-on learning experience!
As part of our recent workshop on healthy Ramadan habits, students explored the different factors that affect the quality of our fasting experience. We discussed several important elements:
1. Sleep quality and daily routines
2. Consumption of sweets and balanced nutrition
3. Adequate water intake
4. Physical activity and movement.
We expanded our discussion to focus more deeply on the importance of sports and physical activity, on how to Exercise Safely During Ramadan,
factors That Affect How We Feel While Fasting.

Our goal is not only for our students to fast, but to truly understand the meaning and purpose of Ramadan—physically, socially, and environmentally.

Another meaningful learning journey, exceptional as always!

Voices of Our Learners: A Journey of Reflection in PYP 7!

At Al Farouk International School, we believe that our learners are the best ambassadors of their own learning journey. Recently, our PYP 7 students demonstrated just how deeply they understand the world of the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP)—and they proudly took their parents along for the ride!

Our PYP 7 students confidently guided their parents through a reflective journey, explaining the key components that shape their daily learning experiences. With clarity and enthusiasm, they shared:
The Transdisciplinary Themes: "Who We Are," "Where We Are in Place and Time," "How We Express Ourselves", “How the World Works”, “How We Organize Ourselves” and “How We Share The Planet” — our learners explained how these organizing themes help them connect classroom learning to the real world, making education meaningful and relevant.

From Form and Function to Causation and Responsibility, students articulated how these specified concepts drive their inquiries and deepen their understanding across subjects.

Our learners reflected on the essential skills they are developing— thinking, communication, social, self-management, and research skills. They shared how these skills empower them to become independent, self-regulated learners.

Students walked their parents through the specific lines of inquiry that structure each unit, demonstrating how curiosity leads to investigation, and investigation leads to understanding.

What impressed us most was not just what our learners knew—but how they thought. They reflected deeply on how their learner profile attributes (such as being inquirers, thinkers, communicators, and principled) are developing through each taught unit. They connected the dots between who they are becoming as learners and the learning experiences that shape them. We are incredibly proud of our PYP 7 learners for owning their learning journey and inspiring their families with their wisdom and reflection. This is what learning looks like at FIS!

Language of Identity, Heart of Learning: Arabic at FIS

At Al Farouk International School, we believe that true bilingualism is not about replacing one language with another—it is about adding a world language while preserving the language of the heart. This is why we place the Arabic language at the very core of our learning journey.

At FIS, Arabic is not taught merely as an official requirement or a curricular obligation. It is woven into the fabric of daily learning as a deep reflection and expression of identity. Arabic is the companion of learning—the language through which our learners connect with their heritage, their values, and their sense of self.

Our curious PYP 7 learners recently embarked on a fascinating inquiry journey. They dug deep into research to explore a powerful question: How has the Arabic language impacted other languages around the world?

Through their investigations, students discovered the profound influence of Arabic on languages such as Spanish, Portuguese, Sicilian, and even English—uncovering linguistic treasures like: The gift of vocabulary**: Words like "sugar," "cotton," "coffee," "algebra," and "algorithm" all trace their roots back to Arabic.

During the Golden Age of Islam, Arabic became the language of science, philosophy, and mathematics, preserving and enriching human knowledge that later flowed into Europe and beyond. Arabic served as a conduit for exchange—carrying ideas, discoveries, and cultural treasures across continents.

Our learners also reflected on a unique linguistic advantage: commanding the Arabic language trains the mouth, ear, and mind. The rich phonetic system of Arabic—with its distinct sounds, deep throat articulations, and precise emphatic consonants—develops an extraordinary auditory and oral awareness. We believe that a balanced global citizen is not someone who leaves their identity behind—but someone who carries it with them as a source of strength, confidence, and perspective. Arabic at FIS: The Language of Identity, The Companion of Learning!
