After spending a semester at AUC as an undergraduate student, Sophie Termaat knew she wanted to come back. Today, she is pursuing her master’s degree at AUC, exploring Middle East politics and society from the heart of the region.

AUC and Back Again: One Student's Journey from Study Abroad to Master’s | The American University in Cairo Sophie Termaat shares her journey from study abroad to master's, learning about the Middle East from the heart of the region.

AUC master’s students enrolled in the Governance and Development course participated in field visits to Dahshur and Badrashin, where they explored locally driven initiatives in sustainable agriculture and tourism. Through direct engagement with community leaders and real-world case studies, students examined governance practices firsthand and connected academic concepts to practical development challenges.

Two TVDJ MA students, Nour Wael Mohamed and Yasmine Nabil Hamdy, together with AUCTV, earned top honors at the Broadcast Education Association (BEA) 2026.

An AUC delegation featuring representatives from the Kamal Adham Center for Television and Digital Journalism and the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication (JRMC) traveled to Las Vegas, Nevada, to attend the convention and receive the awards. This recognition highlights the university’s continued excellence and the impactful contributions of its students, faculty, and staff.
