Testing during Science lessons helps students become active learners by exploring ideas through hands-on experiences. In Year 2, testing electrical circuits allowed students to test different circuits and experimented with a variety of materials to discover which ones are conductors and which are insulators in a fun and practical way. Through trial and error, they learned how to connect components correctly, identify why a circuit may or may not work, and develop problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

These activities also encourage curiosity, teamwork, and communication as students share their observations and discuss their findings. Hands-on testing makes learning more meaningful and helps students better understand scientific concepts by seeing them in action.

Think Safety, Act Safely!
Y2 students created a wonderful awareness collage poster all by themselves
After learning about electrical safety rules in Science, each student designed a mini poster to share important safety messages.
Then they worked together as a team to combine their creative ideas into one big collaborative collage poster

Hands-on activities are important in teaching as they help students learn by doing, not only by listening. When students actively participate, they understand concepts more deeply and remember it for longer. Practical activities also develop problem-solving, creativity, communication, and teamwork skills.
