Things to know before taking Ielts:
1- Type of Ielts test you want: Academic, General or Uk visa. To determine this you will need to check with the institution in which you're applying for work or education.
2- Test Method: online or in a test center. Note that while the online option is flexible, not all institutions accept it. It is better to take ielts in a test center on a computer or on paper.
3- You have to know your level in English and the test score you want to land as it will help you know how much time you need to prepare before the test.
4- Ielts speaking test doesn't have to be on the same day of the exam. You can schedule it on a different day according to the availability of the center in which you're taking the exam.
5- Make sure you go through trusted and accredited test centers for ielts testing to avoid scams
