đź“Ś HOW TO BUILD YOUR CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK

1. Identify Your Core Variables
📌​Before you draw anything, you need to know who the "characters" in your story are. Look at your research question and pull out the primary concepts.

📍​Independent Variable (IV): The cause or the factor you are changing/observing.

📍​Dependent Variable (DV): The effect or the outcome you are measuring.

📍​Moderating/Mediating Variables: Factors that influence or explain the relationship between the IV and DV.

​2. Conduct a Literature Review

📌​You don't have to reinvent the wheel. Look at how previous researchers have mapped out these relationships.

📍​What theories did they use?

📍​What connections did they find (or fail to find)?

📍​Your framework should be grounded in this existing knowledge but tailored to your specific study.

​3. Choose Your Format
📌​While you can describe your framework in prose, it is most effective when presented as a Logic Model or a Schematic Diagram.

📍​Boxes: Represent your variables or concepts.

📍​Arrows: Represent the direction of the relationship (usually from left to right).

📍​Lines: Represent a correlation or link without a specific "cause-effect" direction.

​4. Map the Relationships
📌​Now, connect the dots. In a standard "Input-Process-Output" (IPO) model or a causal model, you’ll want to show exactly how you think your variables interact.

5. Write the Narrative
📌​A diagram isn't enough on its own. You must write a section explaining why these arrows exist. Reference the theories you found in Step 2 to justify why you believe "Variable A" will impact "Variable B."
