Now, you can gain practical insights as we released the report Cross-crisis responsiveness and the role of the universities, which is now available on Zenodo in the "Support Ukraine Through Citizen Engagement at Baltic Universities" community. The report draws on insights from the Experience Cafés, presenting lessons learned, best practices, and actionable recommendations.
The Experience Cafés have revealed the transformative potential of cross-sectoral collaboration and public engagement, underscoring the critical role of innovation, inclusivity, and sustained effort in addressing societal challenges.

🎉 On December 18, 2024, the Lviv Polytechnic team presented the results of the international project Baltics4UA at the Erasmus+ Infoday: Practical aspects for success in international project activities organized by the University Project Office.
📌 The participants of the event learned:
- Project goals and objectives: how the initiative supports the educational and social resilience of Ukrainians in difficult conditions.
- Key results: achievements that contribute to solving social and technological challenges.
- International cooperation: the role of partners from the Baltic States in creating innovative solutions for Ukraine.
🌍 Baltics4UA has become an example of successful synergy between the university community and international partners in overcoming modern challenges.

🎓🌍 Online Roundtable: Ukrainians in the Country and Abroad: Social and Technological Dimensions in Crisis Response within and beyond HEIs 🌍🎓
On December 4, 2024, an online roundtable brought together experts and participants to explore social and technological dimensions o crisis response within and beyond higher education institutions. Hosted on Zoom as part of the Baltics4UA project, the event tackled critical challenges and strategies for resilience in education, society, and technology.

• Prof. Yana Sychikova (Berdiansk State Pedagogical University, Ukraine)

🌍 Strengthening Baltic Universities’ Resilience: Multiplier Events in Tallinn and Riga 🌟
As part of the Baltics4UA project, two multiplier events took place in Tallinn and Riga:
📍 Tallinn Multiplier Event (November 28, 2024)
Hosted at Vabamu, this event emphasized the importance of crisis plans co-created by companies, civic organizations, public sector institutions, and academic institutions. Organized by six students from Tallinn University’s Interdisciplinary Learning (ELU) course, participants concluded that strong collaboration at the local level is critical for rapid and effective citizen support during crises.
📍 Riga Multiplier Event (November 19, 2024)
The University of Latvia gathered 25 participants, including students, NGOs, policymakers, and business representatives, to explore how universities can enhance resilience and social responsibility. Discussions focused on innovative ways to integrate Ukrainian refugees into academic and social systems while strengthening partnerships between academia and broader societal stakeholders.
✨ Both events highlighted the resilience and adaptability of Baltic universities, empowering participants through interactive discussions, knowledge-sharing, and networking opportunities. Together, these events demonstrated how universities can lead in fostering inclusive, resilient, and socially responsible communities.

🤝On November 21-23, 2024, members of the Baltics4UA team from Lviv Polytechnic, Nataliia Vovk and Anna Shillinh, took part in the Ukrainian Open Science Forum in Lviv.
This event united scientists, teachers, students, postgraduates, and all those interested in open science, academic integrity, and current challenges in the academic world. The forum was held in a hybrid format, which allowed everyone to join it both in person in Lviv and online.
The 11th International Youth Science Forum 'Litteris et Artibus' conference was held as part of the forum, where a study on “Anti-crisis responsiveness of HEIs: intercomprehension in academia-driven social actions” was presented. The authors of this study are Nataliia Vovk and Anna Shilinh from Lviv Polytechnic National University and Lianna Teder from Tallinn University. The study was prepared based on the results of the activities carried out within the framework of the Baltics4UA project.
The aim of this article, «Anti-crisis responsiveness of HEIs: intercomprehension in academia-driven social actions,» is to present intercomprehension of the main methods and social actions initiated by the academic environment for the anti-crisis response of higher education institutions. The study uses Hart's method to analyze the effectiveness of implemented universities’ social actions in Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia and Ukraine.

Lviv Polytechnic team invites you to the Online roundtable “Ukrainians in the country and abroad: social and technological dimensions in crisis response within and beyond HEIs” within the framework of the Baltics4UA project, which will be held on 04.12.2024 at 11.00 (Kyiv time) on the platform Zoom (Meeting ID: 897 7068 6320, Passcode: 754286).
During the roundtable, we will discuss social and technological strategies to support Ukrainians in wartime, universities' adaptation to new challenges, the role of distance education in ensuring the continuity of the educational process, and new forms of international cooperation to support students and teachers in crisis.

Multi-stakeholder event in Lithuania!✨
On the 14th of November, the final project Baltics4UA event was organized on the premises of the Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) library.🇱🇹🇺🇦
- The Director of the Library, Assoc. Prof. Dr. G. Tautkevičienė and the project team presented the results of the two-year-long project on providing support to Ukrainians. In addition, participants in this event listened to insightful presentations from the guest speakers.
- Dr. V. Demidenko, Director of the Jonava district Social Services Centre and lecturer at Kaunas College presented the possibilities of integrating war refugees.
- Assoc. Prof. Dr. E. Štuopytė, lecturer at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Humanities at KTU, shared her insights on integrating newly arrived migrant students into the school community.
- Prof. Dr. S. Petronienė, Head of the Centre for Foreign Languages at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Humanities at Kaunas University of Technology, shared her experience on the knowledge of the language and culture as the main tools for successful integration.
- Representatives of the non-state school "Herojus" presented the principles and mission of their school.
In this event participated quadruplex helix actors: citizens, researchers, policy makers, and representatives from business.

Baltics4UA Monday podcast release❗️
The fifth episode of "Voices of Engagement" explores a unique form of citizen engagement – hackathons! Our partner from Greece, Web2Learn, represented by Kateryna Boichenko, joins host Catherine Gibson to discuss this innovative format.🗣💻
In this episode, Kateryna introduces Web2Learn and its expertise in fostering citizen engagement by connecting businesses and communities. She also highlights their experience organizing hackathons that engage citizens in humanitarian initiatives. One such example is the NASA Challenge, where the Space4UA team utilizes space data and Earth observations to monitor and visualize threats to Ukraine's cultural heritage.
Additionally, Kateryna shares practical tips for educational institutions looking to involve the private sector in their initiatives.
