AELTT background:
The Algerian English Language Teacher Training (AELTT) project started as an idea in 2014 by FLTA (Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistants) Alumni exchange scholars, with the aim of contributing to the English Language teachers in Algeria and benefit this community through free trainings and seminars in English Teaching. The Alumni team participated in the 2015 AIEF, and received a fund that will help implement and launch the project. The workshops will take place during the 2015/2016 academic year. What are the topics of the training? Teachers will be surveyed about which topics they prefer to tackle in the training. We want teachers to be involved in learning and gain practice from the workshops we will offer. We want them to apply these topics to their real teaching situations inside the classroom. Surveys will be online starting from July 2015. The results will be studied in August, and trainers will be contacted to arrange the first workshop series starting from September/ October 2015. Who are the trainers? Our attempt is to bring experienced practitioners in English Language Teaching, who are familiar with the Algerian teaching system and situation to offer guidance and advice to teachers on how best they could use updated methods to learning. We want to encourage and inspire the teachers in loving their profession and keeping it lively, self-fulfilling, and rewarding to their community and future generations of students. The workshops:
We hope to gather around 30 teachers for a full day training, very likely on a Saturday, and during holiday breaks (Fall, Winter, Spring)
Follow up:
Attendees will be awarded a certificate of attendance and we will encourage creating a follow up training event in their community, and keeping updated online. Teachers would complete a feedback and evaluation of our event.
