Esperanza is a new educational program we have started through the Good Samaritan Hospital. We are working in two bateys (small villages on the outskirts of the city) right now, Batey 16 and Batey 50. Our goal is to make these children excited about learning by teaching in a more non-traditional way, making learning fun.We believe that education is one of the only ways to break the cycle of povert
y and bring hope to these children for a better future. Esperanza es un programa educativo que hemos comenzado a través del Hospital El Buen Samaritano. Por el momento trabajamos en dos Bateyes ( pequeñas comunidades en las afueras del pueblo); trabajamos en el Batey 16 y en el Batey 50. Nuestro objetivo es hacer que los niños se entusiasmen por la educación y la vean como algo divertido, usando métodos no tradicionales. Creemos que la educación es la única forma con la que se puede romper el ciclo de pobreza y traer Esperanza a estos niños para que tengan un mejor futuro. Donations can be made at:

You have the choice of using Paypal or sending a check. The MOST IMPORTANT part is that there does need to be a special note made that the donation is for the After School Program: Esperanza, if not it will go into the hospital's general donations which goes towards helping patients who can't afford care, another great program :)
