This is just to notify all our followers that the 19th Viking Congress has been postponed from July 2021 to 23-29 July 2022, with the Study Tour from 29 July - 2 August 2022. We hope all arrangements will remain the same, and we will make sure there will be some great public lectures. Sorry about this! it is due (of course) to the Coronavirus pandemic, restrictions on travel, and the difficulty of going ahead in 2021.

We are happy to show the logo for the 19th Viking Congress in July 2021, which is the traditional Congress logo (definition below) decorated with combined symbols of Wales (the red dragon) and North-West England (the red rose of Lancashire). Art work by Robert Travis.

The official Congress logo was adopted at the fifth congress in the Faroes in 1965. Known in the Faroes as a held (Icelandic: högld), it is a ring made of a locked loop of ram’s horn. It was, and still is, used for a number of purposes, but chiefly as a loop attached to a rope and used when carrying hay (information from vikingcongress.com).

Major planning session yesterday for #19 Viking Congress in July 2021. The sessions and themes in Bangor and Liverpool are going to be radical, fresh and engaging, and the tour from Lancaster is going to be amazing. Web site already under construction, and expect the call for papers early in 2020. David, Nancy, Clare and Fiona.
