This is one of my biggest beliefs.

Way to many moms exhaust themselves thinking they have to put their own needs on the back burner for their kids.
Not realising you're actually doing both yourself AND your kids a disservice.
Taking care of yourself fills your energy levels.
When your energy tank is full, you're happier, you're more energetic, you're more over bearing and better mentally equipped to handle obstacles and changes.
I have been burned out for a loooooong time now. Completely forgotten to practice what I preach.
But last week I had a night out with one of my best friends. We had an amazing three course dinner and a wine menu that made me tipsy and I got to break out the red lipstick and speak to grown ups.
I was over the moon. It was only 3 hours, but it made a world of difference and I made a silent wow to myself to remind and remember to also fill my own energy tank once in a while and to not let two years pass by before the next time. 🥰🤩💥

Siblings.

My oldest was 2, when I decided to try and give him a sibling. I had thought it would take me longer to conceive, because I tried for 3 years with the first.

But by sheer luck and utter terror, I ended up getting pregnant in the first try. And then I panicked. 😂🙈

Something I hear often from other SoloMoms is the desire for giving your child a sibling vs the fear of how to manage two children on your own.

I had the exact same thoughts.
I just knew that my desire was greater than my fears and so I took the plunge.

What I've learned afterwards was somewhat what I'd imagined... A lot of work, but manageable.
I have found two key factors that are my most valuable ones, for when you have a second child. And logically enough it is actually the same as having your first child alone...

Routine and Preparation. Just times two. ☺️

If you want to know my top five considerations for becoming a Solomom of two, follow my stories today.
You are also very welcome to ask me anything you'd like in today's Q&A. 😊

If I were to capture the epitome of love in a single photo - This picture would be it.

My greatest advice to women contemplating Solomom-hood is this:

Don't delay. One day you might be too late and there won't be a second chance.

But I promise you that you will NEVER regret it!

Becoming a mom is the most empowering feeling in the world.
It builds your heart, your mind, your strength.

It can bring out the worst in you, but it will also bring out the best.

It will be challenging, but oh... SO rewarding!! ❤️❤️

If you're contemplating Solomom-hood, but you're feeling a bit insecure or scared or nervous, worried, alone, doubtful, hopeless or all of the above, send me a message @ [email protected] or through the contact page @ Solomom.dk ☺️

🔥How to optimise your day 🔥

Today's picture is of the rolling cart I have next to my dinner table.

In it I have put all my daily makeup necessities.

With two kids you have to be efficient, so I try to maximise my time best possible.

When I sit down at the breakfast table with the kids, I use this time to double as my makeup routine time.
I would never have the 10 minutes or what ever to stand by my self in front of a mirror in the bathroom, but this way, the toddler has breakfast and we have some quality time with singing and joking and talking about what mummy is doing when I put in contacts or put on mascara.

In stead of stressing to get myself ready, I incorporate it into our joint schedule.

Now obviously I don't use every item here every day, because kids' attention span is limited, but the rest is for those days I have some extra time.

😃🙌🏼

This picture shows a whole lot of love.
But what it doesn't show are all the things that's also there - this is also multi tasking gold for a solo Mom...

What you don't see in this picture is actually me on my back doing my daily physiotherapy exercises, while I still keep the toddler occupied, the baby doing tummy time without tears and all of us just bonding over some family closeness.

This is just one of many ways you can optimise your daily routines, so you're still able to get chores of your hands even though you're on your own with two children.
The next couple of days, I will be sharing some tips on how I optimise my day to accommodate being a single mom of two. 😊

The page is in Danish, but you're always welcome to message me for translation if needed.
Also... I will be answering questions all throughout the day, so please feel free to ask me anything on your mind about solomomhood. 🤗🥰

Had a doctors appointment today and Bump is getting big and healthy and everything looked perfect.

I have had some difficulties getting used to the idea of another child coming so soon. In my mind I had expected it to take a while, because it took me three years to have Alvin, so when I got pregnant with baby brother in the first try I was super surprised and (to put it mildly) scared as hell.
Like how am I gonna manage TWO??!! 😳🙈🙈🙈

But as I start to feel Bump kicking more, I get more and more excited to see him.
And today a thought hit me... The realisation that I "had made it". I've got my children now. Followed by a second though... If I had waited for a man, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have had any yet.
And I would have been so pressed for time by now.

Being a mom is not for everyone, but for some women it's everything. That's how it was for me. I could not fathom a life I could be truly happy in without a child.

I cannot stress enough, how grateful I am to myself for taking a leap into faith and doing this on my own and if you're thinking about it, but scared to take the step, I KNOW where you're at.
Those feelings of fear and sorrow and determination and insecurity and hope and despair wrapped up in one... I hear you!
But it IS possible to be able to let go of those feelings. 🙌🏼🙏🏼

It's SOOOO hard being a mom. Maybe it's harder being a Solomom and maybe it's not.
But even the hardest days with my child is okay, because he is here. And he is mine. And in a couple of months I get to double that love.

This is our family. 🥰❤️👩‍👦‍👦

This line totally expressed my day today.

That's why I thought I would share the story with you, because I know there are a lot of women, who recognises these feelings...

Today Alvin and I went to Tivoli (a stunning, old amusement park in Copenhagen), who just opened up their Halloween season today. 🎃

We were having a great time, when I all of a sudden started noticing all these couples there. All the mums and dads enjoying their children together. A shard of ice hit my heart and for a brief moment I was struck by sadness of not having that.

Suddenly Bump kicked me from the inside and I remembered...
I remembered that I might have had to let go of one dream in my life, but I am still so fortunate and blessed not to have had to let go of my BIGGEST dream of all; to become a mother.
Not only to the beautiful boy sitting in the stroller in front of me, but also to a little creature growing in my stomach.
My mood changed in instant from sadness to excitement as I shifted my focus.

Because every storm can create a rainbow. Or two. 🥰🌈👩‍👦‍👦💙💙

The weather has been amazing the last couple of days, but unfortunately I have for the most part been cooped up inside, working and cleaning and doing all the things a single mom does, so today I wanted to get a good start on my weekend by letting laundry be laundry and leaving the dishes in the sink (I'm pretty sure they'll still be there, when I get home) and just go lie in the sun, while my son is in daycare.
And I absolutely love this little piece of luxury in my city, to have a harbour bath that makes you able to enjoy a swim right in the middle of the city with a view of the city skyline. ☀️💦
is one of my great loves. ❤️🤗
(and sometimes is nice to be able to have a few moments on my own). 😄🙈🙈

We have just arrived home after a vacation on a small Danish island and it's good to be home. As fun as it is to experience new memories, it can be a tough ride sometimes to take a toddler out of his natural surroundings.
I try to keep up with routine on certain things like bedtime for instance - same procedure as home, same music, same bed time rituals. But even so, it is still challenging at times, but the moments like this one - a snuggle in the middle of a restaurant is what I take with me. The love from my baby boy makes all the struggles worth it. ❤️🥰😍

🌼Today marks the start of our summer holiday and we're kicking it off with a visit to auntie B, where we can go strawberry and cherry picking. 🍓🍒
🌈Auntie B is one of my best friends and since Alvin's birth she has been so close in our lives and I love to watch the bond between them.
🌸When thinking about creating relationships for your child it doesn't necessarily have to be blood-related. 💕

Mommas little helper is getting so big. ❤️And he's so sweet and helpful and curious. Wants to be a part of everything. I just enjoy watching him grow and develop every single day. 😍🥰
