Tomorrow and for the next month, you can view scientist Helene Halkjær Jensens research exhibition regarding the questions:
🧬 What different impacts does a genetic mutation have on the heart vs. the brain?
🧠 How is the same mutation linked to neuropsychiatric conditions such as autism, ADHD, and schizophrenia?
One of Helene’s major discoveries relates to calcium signalling, which is an important form of communication within cells. At AAU, scientists have studied calcium signalling for many years in connection with heart disease. This research now shows that the same signals may also be disruptive in the brain.
📽️ The video was created by Studio Herman Ditte, the Danish School of Media and Journalism, Aalborg University, and Nordjyske Mediehus. It is part of the communication project “Visual Science”, which experiments with new and alternative ways of communicating research. The project is supported by the Novo Nordisk
