Every time I rewatch Christopher Nolan’s incredible film “Inception,” it strikes me how profoundly philosophical it really is.

You may know Descartes’s famous saying “I think therefore I am.”
But what he actually said was:
“Dubito ergo cogito. Cogito ergo sum.”
This more accurately means: “I doubt ergo I think. I think ergo I exist.”

The concept of doubting is thus seen as incredibly valuable, and in fact, I often doubt all those people who don’t seem to doubt. Dom’s biggest flaw could well be that he doesn’t doubt, whereas Mal, his deceased wife, did.

Have you see “Inception,” and does this make sense to you in connection with that film or with life in general?

Just took a long walk. Pure magic. So absolutely quiet and silent. As the old Danish poem says: “There’s nothing in the world as quiet as snow.” (Helge Rode, 1886)

Winter Solstice is the most magical day of the year for me. The shortest day of the year. The longest night of the year.

The darkness is the epitome of yin, the anima, the archetypal feminine principle.

It’s a day for going deeper. A day for journaling, for contemplation, dreaming, celebrating the darkness and femininity.

My intention for today and going forward came to me just as I sat down to light a candle and go inside: Taylor Swift singing “No more keeping score now!” into my tiny Copenhagen flat.

How do you celebrate the solstice? 🕯️
I would love to know.
