I don’t always love my body, but I love that it’s given me you. ❤️

I don’t always love getting up during the night, but I love being your answer right now. ❤️

I don’t always love what the tired can turn me into, but I love who I have become because of you. ❤️

I don’t always love the finger smudges on the windows, but I love the permanent mark you’ve left on my heart. ❤️

I don’t always love how lost I feel, but I love who you are helping me find. ❤️

I don’t always love coming last, but I love being first in your eyes. ❤️

I don’t always love worrying about you but I love that I care so deeply. ❤️

I don’t always love turning up late, but I love that it’s because I’m early for you. ❤️

I don’t always love the mess, but I love that it is your happiness. ❤️

I don’t always love being touched out, but I love nothing more than being your home. ❤️

I don’t always love missing out on things, but I love being there for you. ❤️

I don’t always love stopping what I’m doing, but I love that my time is yours. ❤️

❤️❤️I don’t always love every single moment in motherhood, but I will always, always, love you. ❤️❤️

📔 Words taken from book on early motherhood - Mother On

In the hustle and bustle of today’s world, it’s easy to forget the simple yet profound power that lies within our breath. As adults, we often turn to breathwork for stress relief and inner balance, but have you ever considered introducing this incredible practice to our little ones?

Learning breathing techniques can help children with emotional regulation, stress relief, focus and concentration, self awareness and much more! These benefits can be even more pronounced in children because they are still developing emotionally and physiologically. By introducing and encouraging breathing techniques in children, we help them establish healthy habits that can serve them well throughout their lives, promoting overall well-being and emotional balance.

Here are a few exercises that make breathwork fun and memorable for children to practice:

• 5 Fingers, 5 Breaths - teach them to take 5 deep breaths tracing the outline of their hands. Inhale as you trace up, exhale as you trace down.

• Balloon/Belly Breath - teach them how to breathe properly by expanding their belly on the inhale and contracting on the exhale. (Also known as diaphragmatic breathing)

• Flower/Candle Breath - using the index finger to represent both, inhale the flower and blow out the candle.

• Daniel Tiger Song - taking a deep breath and holding it for a count of four. Breath pauses help to calm the nervous system.

Teaching children the art of conscious breathing can be a gift that lasts a lifetime. Remember that they learn by watching us and our habits. When they see us prioritize our own breath and well-being, they’re more likely to embrace these practices themselves. Show them that taking a moment for deep, mindful breaths is a gift we give ourselves every day.

Examples of each in a marriage:

TRIGGERS:
• yelling reminds them of a hostile environment growing up
• seeing their partner talk someone attractive reminds them of being cheated on

BELIEFS:
• “if they really cared, they’d know this matters to me.”
• “the man should always initiate intimacy.”

WOUNDS:
• rejection: when I opened up, I was rejected so I won’t do that again
• father was emotionally abusive: latent anger that comes out in cycles

INSECURITIES:
• hates their body and constantly compares to others
• when conflict arises, a complete inability to pause until it’s resolved because of worrying they won’t be loved anymore

I could provide more examples, but the point is coming across, right? 🤔

We don’t just marry our partners strengths.

We can’t reject each other because of the healing and growth that we all must do. 💯

BUT here’s the key requirement: being willing. 💯

Willing to acknowledge those parts of ourselves that need to be addressed. 💯

Not because you’re flawed, but because we ALL have things to work on!!!!! 💯
Whether it’s a trigger, a wound, a limiting belief, an insecurity — they are going to show up and be magnified in a romantic relationship.

So I invite you to both lean INTO both growing as individuals and as a couple.
This can be through personal development books, workshops, coaches, healing retreats, and more.

I see couples thrive and overcome challenges when they VALUE personal growth and healing. It doesn’t mean it’s always fun but it’s NECESSARY, otherwise you’ll constantly relive the same experiences with each other.

I hope this post is providing helpful perspective. 🙏🏾
