Today I would like to introduce you to a special insect. The Umbonia spinosa. 😊🐞
They come from South America and are related to the cicadas. With the 'thorn' on their back, they camouflage and protect themselves from predators. Umbonia spinosas feed on sap from leaves and plant stems. They use vibrations to communicate, but humans cannot hear them.
The two most interesting facts about them: the mothers stay close to and take care of their offspring, and because they produce a sugary excrement, they often have ants as their bodyguards, because they love to eat the excrements.💚🐜.......
Heute möchte ich euch ein besonderes Insekt vorstellen. Die Dornenwanzen. 😊🐞
Sie kommt aus Südamerika und ist mit den Zikaden verwandt. Mit dem 'Dorn' auf ihrem Rücken tarnt und schützt sie sich vor Feinden. Dornenwanzen ernähren sich von Saft aus Blättern und Pflanzenstengeln. Zur Kommunikation benutzen sie Vibrationen die von Menschen aber nicht hörbar sind.
Zwei besonders interessante Fakten über sie: Die Mütter bleiben in der Nähe ihres Nachwuchses und passen auf sie auf und weil sie ein süßliches Sekret ausscheiden, haben sie oft Ameisen als Bodyguards, da diese das Sekret lieben. 💚🐜
