Many kindergartens are still in the middle of their settling ins, with children and their families becoming more comfortable everyday.
One of our Erasmus researchers is learning that settling in is not just for children, but also important for adults entering new situations and well as animals! Meet Walrus and Squid! Walrus has been living in their home for 5 months and Squid just entered the scene less than a week ago. Both animals are going through a settling in. Walrus is getting used to a new and smaller animal in his home and learning how to interact with him safely and still feel secure in his own space, while Squid is in a completely new environment and needs time to adjust before being able to learn how to play with a bigger cat.
Of course settling in children to a new kindergarten is different and involves many more nuances and visual aids, but it's also interesting to learn how there are other living beings also need support both environmentally and verbally to feel comfortable and safe in a new place!
