Eine Woche im neuen Schulhalbjahr 🇺🇬📚

Die erste Woche ist bereits vorbei, und an der MOTCOM Kids School kehrt langsam wieder der Alltag ein.

Immer mehr Kinder kommen zurück, die Klassen füllen sich wieder, und der Schulalltag fühlt sich nach den Ferien langsam wieder normal an. 💛

Back to school! 📚🇺🇬

Heute hat an der MOTCOM Kids School in Uganda offiziell der dritte und letzte Term des Schuljahres begonnen.

In Katikamu regnet es allerdings schon seit einigen Tagen fast durchgehend. Deshalb sind heute nur wenige Schüler in die Schule gekommen. Im Laufe dieser Woche werden nach und nach alle Kinder zurückkehren und der normale Unterricht wieder anlaufen.

Heute wurde deshalb noch nicht viel unterrichtet. Stattdessen wurde die Zeit genutzt, um die Klassenräume und das Schulgelände nach den Ferien wieder auf Vordermann zu bringen und alles für den neuen Term vorzubereiten. 💛

Back to school! 📚🇺🇬

Today, the third and final term of the school year officially began at the MOTCOM Kids School in Uganda.

However, it has been raining almost continuously in Katikamu for several days now. As a result, only a few pupils turned up at school today. Over the course of this week, all the children will gradually return and lessons will resume as normal.

So not much teaching took place today. Instead, the time was spent sprucing up the classrooms and school grounds after the holidays and getting everything ready for the new term. 💛

Es sind Ferien, aber nicht für alle! 📚
Während die meisten Kinder gerade Ferien haben, kommen einige Schüler aus P6 und P7 weiterhin in die Schule, um sich auf ihre anstehenden Abschlussprüfungen vorzubereiten.

Jetzt haben aber auch sie noch eine Woche Ferien, bevor der Schulbetrieb wieder für alle Kinder startet. 😀

Meet Agnes! 💛

Agnes ist das Herz und die Seele der MOTCOM Kids School. Sie kümmert sich um die Administration und war von Anfang an dabei, als die Idee für die Schule entstanden ist.

Sie ist außerdem die Gründerin von Mother Teresa Compassion, der Organisation, aus der die MOTCOM Kids School entstanden ist und die die Schule vor Ort trägt. Für uns ist sie gleichzeitig die wichtigste Ansprechpartnerin vor Ort und die Verbindung zwischen der Schule in Uganda und unserem Verein in Deutschland.

Sie kennt gefühlt jede Person in der Umgebung und hat bei allem den Überblick. Ob sie mit der Schulbehörde spricht, einen Handwerker organisiert, bei einem Streit in der Klasse vermittelt oder selbst das Mittagessen kocht, wenn unsere Köchin krank ist, Agnes ist einfach immer da, wenn sie gebraucht wird.

Ohne Agnes würde die MOTCOM Kids School so, wie sie heute läuft, nicht funktionieren. ❤️🙏

Meet Agnes! 💛

Agnes is the heart and soul of the MOTCOM Kids School. She looks after the administration and has been involved right from the start, when the idea for the school first came about.

She is also the founder of Mother Teresa Compassion, the organisation from which the MOTCOM Kids School emerged and which supports the school on the ground. For us, she is both our key local contact and the link between the school in Uganda and our charity in Germany.

She seems to know everyone in the area and has a firm grasp of everything that’s going on. Whether she’s speaking to the education authorities, organising a tradesperson, mediating a row in the classroom or even cooking lunch herself when our cook is off sick, Agnes is simply always there when she’s needed.

Without Agnes, the MOTCOM Kids School wouldn’t function as it does today. ❤️🙏

Ein paar Eindrücke aus den letzten Wochen☀️

In den letzten Wochen war es etwas ruhiger an der MOTCOM Kids School. Jakob war aus Deutschland zu Besuch, was alle sehr gefreut hat, aber ansonsten lief der Schulbetrieb ganz normal weiter.📚

Die Kinder haben Wahlen für verschiedene Schulämter abgehalten, in allen Klassen wurden die Mid-Term-Klausuren geschrieben und zwischendurch ging es auch immer wieder auf das Feld, um für ein Freundschaftsspiel zu trainieren. ⚽

Es gibt natürlich weiterhin Herausforderungen, wie den bestehenden Lehrermangel und den fehlenden großen Kochtopf für die Schulküche. Wenn ihr uns damit unterstützen wollt, dann schaut gerne mal auf unserer Website vorbei! 🍲

A Few Highlights from the Past Few Weeks☀️

Things have been a bit quieter at MOTCOM Kids School over the past few weeks. Jakob came to visit from Germany, which made everyone very happy, but otherwise school life continued as usual.📚

The kids held elections for various school offices, all classes took their midterm exams, and in between, they kept heading out to the field to practice for a friendly match. ⚽🏃‍♀️

Of course, there are still some minor challenges, such as the ongoing teacher shortage and the lack of a large pot for the school kitchen. If you’d like to support us with these needs, please feel free to check out our website!
