Marshmallow Laser Feast presents Water Body at the 70th BFI London Film Festival, as part of LFF Expanded.
Installed at St Martin-in-the-Fields, the meditative audiovisual work traces the hidden circulation of water across the planet โ through rivers, oceans, landscapes and living bodies โ using global Earth-systems data to reveal water as a continuous network connecting climate, ecosystems and life.
Beginning deep underground, we course through the branching veins of Londonโs hidden Rivers, journeying through Estuary to Ocean. Rising from the Seaโs surface, time contracts as the annual Water Cycle compresses into spiralling ten-second loops. Global Water data reveals the interrelations between wet seasons, Phytoplankton blooms and Whale, Seal and Seabird migrations.
Created with Robert Macfarlane, James Bulley and Ludmilla Balkis, Water Body continues the collectiveโs ongoing exploration of the invisible systems that connect human and more-than-human worlds, and of perception itself.
