📚 BYBLIOS Project dissemination in Portugal: promoting inclusive libraries with Desincoop

As part of its outreach activities, the BYBLIOS Project was presented in Portugal during the Seminário da Inclusão Social de Pessoas com Deficiência in Guimarães, thanks to the initiative of project partner Desincoop.

The event brought together local stakeholders to explore how school and public libraries can become inclusive community hubs — supporting learning, social participation, and employment opportunities for people with cognitive disabilities.

Special focus was given to the BYBLIOS inclusive internship model, showcasing practical pathways to build autonomy, skills, and confidence through real work experiences in libraries.

These moments of exchange help strengthen local collaboration and spread inclusive practices across Europe.

On September 12, 2025, the BYBLIOS Project hosted an inspiring meeting in Guimarães at the Biblioteca Municipal Raul Brandão, bringing together local institutions, educators, and policymakers to discuss inclusion and diversity in school libraries.

The event featured testimonials from trainees, round tables on BYBLIOS experiences, and reflections on inclusive public policies and the evolving role of libraries as spaces for lifelong learning and community development.

BYBLIOS continues to promote libraries not only as physical places, but as inclusive environments where people with disabilities are valued and empowered.

🏘️📚 Libraries as community hubs: a new handbook for a changing Europe

Across Europe, libraries are evolving into vibrant community hubs — inclusive spaces for learning, connection, creativity, and civic participation.

As part of BYBLIOS Work Package 5, we are finalizing the Byblios Handbook, a key resource bringing together good practices, tools, and insights from international working groups to support libraries in this transformation.

The handbook will offer practical guidance, highlight new skills for librarians, and share real experiences from across Europe to inspire local action and innovation.

Together, we’re shaping the libraries of tomorrow — more inclusive, dynamic, and community-driven.
