Yesterday we conducted an awesome sports tour in Munich with the Downs family. It took off with the stadium on Giesinger heights and the story of 1860, especially the newest developments. It continued to the Bayern training compound at Säbener Straße and the role Kurt Landauer played in the early developements of Bayern Munich. The last and longest place was at the Olympic park with the famous and impressive stadium, swimming pool but also with the murderous attack on the Israelis team in 1972. A tour covering sports, past and present, pure stories and history about sport, but also sports and politics.

It’s all about the people!

A huge shoutout to our amazing guide, Michael Schwennen! 🗣️ Whether he was explaining complex politics, sharing personal stories, or telling perfectly timed jokes, he made every day interesting.

Special thanks to the Dialog Educational Center for looking after our group so well. And if anyone is wondering where the best spot was... Nahsholim definitely won the prize for the best beach and the best food!

We're coming home with full hearts, new perspectives, and a lot of great memories. Until next time!

Conversations we will never forget...

Some moments change you forever. During our seminar, we had the incredible honor of sitting down with Hanna Tidhar, a Holocaust survivor.

As time passes, these firsthand stories become even more precious. Visiting the Yad Vashem memorial in Jerusalem reminded us all why we must keep these memories alive for the next generation.

We also met with Muad Odeh from the Ahmadiyya community, who showed us a peaceful side of Islam that was new to many of us. It’s these bridge-building moments that make trips like this so vital.

Think you know Israel? Think again!

We went in with all the classic clichés: "It’s always hot" and "There are soldiers on every corner."

Surprise! We traded our sunglasses for umbrellas and found out that the media doesn't always show the full picture. Instead of a desert, we found a vibrant, green country where religion often takes a backseat to human connection.
One of our favorite parts? Getting a "sweet" education in Hanukkah traditions—which basically meant eating delicious Sufganiot (doughnuts) almost every single day!

Shalom from Israel!
Our youth group from Hochtaunuskreis just returned from an incredible journey through Israel! From the snowy north to the sunny south, we didn’t just see the sights—we experienced the culture.
We walked the "four chambers of the heart" in Jerusalem’s Old City, explored the stunning Baháʼí Gardens in Haifa, and ate our way through local falafel stands. The program was packed with everything from holy sites to modern life.
The biggest takeaway? Seeing how people from all walks of life shape this country together. Whether playing with kids in Haifa or sharing a meal, the hospitality was unmatched!

Remembering the Past – Building the Future
A deeply moving part of our October 2015 trip was the visit to Yad Vashem. There, the humiliation, injustice, and loss of self-determination during the Holocaust become tangible and impossible to ignore.
We were introduced to this history through the personal story of Hanna Tidhar, founder and director-general of the Dialog Educational Center. Despite experiencing expulsion and forced labor camps, she dedicated her life to reconciliation and fostering understanding between Israelis and Germans.
Her life’s work embodies what this journey stands for: dialogue instead of hatred, encounter instead of prejudice, connection despite history.
Through conversations, shared experiences, and thoughtful guidance, participants were able to glimpse the vibrant diversity of Israel – past and present intertwined.
Encounters like these remind us why exchange matters.

Experiencing Israel – Between Peace and Tension
During our October 2015 journey to Israel, we experienced a country full of contrasts.
There were peaceful, almost paradisiacal places – and at the same time, visible reminders of the fragile security situation. In Tel Aviv’s Rabin Square, the memory of Yitzhak Rabin’s assassination was palpable. In Jerusalem, soldiers with weapons were part of everyday life – even at holy sites like the Jordan River.
And yet, throughout the trip, we felt safe and welcomed. Jerusalem appeared relaxed, vibrant, and deeply diverse. Israel is a country of contradictions – historical and modern, spiritual and political, peaceful and tense.
It is a place that raises questions rather than offering simple answers. Perhaps one must return again and again to understand more – knowing that complete clarity may never be possible.

Munich Historical Tour with U.S. Guests

Yesterday I guided an American mother and son through Munich, following their earlier visits to Berlin, the Rhine, and Nuremberg. Our focus was Munich’s complex 20th-century history, especially Jewish heritage and key political events.

We visited the former main synagogue site (demolished in 1938), the assassination location of Kurt Eisner—Bavaria’s first republican leader—and Odeonsplatz, where we discussed the 1923 Beer Hall Putsch.

At Hofbräuhaus am Platzl, we talked about the early years of the N**i Party. We then visited the new main synagogue, Ohel Jakob Synagogue, before continuing to Königsplatz and the former Führerbau, site of the 1938 Munich Agreement. The tour ended at the NS-Dokumentationszentrum München.

Grateful for thoughtful guests and meaningful conversations about history, memory, and responsibility.

Continous professional Training with Added Value
Professional exchange programs offer further training that goes far beyond traditional courses - delivering real benefits for employees and companies alike.
In bilateral exchanges, professionals get to know another country and culture very intensively through their daily work practice. Personal conversations and genuine encounters develop quickly. At Dialog, we initiate such professional exchanges and bring together people from the same fields in different countries. This form of learning and networking is possible in nearly all industries.
